I thought the concept of the lance rest was somehow de-bunked. Thanks for clearing that up.

I am no expert, but when I mentioned I cut a bouche to Mac, the only question he had for me was to ask if I was seatting the darned lance in the bouche. The BBC production's expert ( I forget his name - He was also the host of "The Weapons that Made Britian") also insisted that his joust trainees used the bouche in this manner. Fact or fiction , I don't know. But it works for my wife ( yes, she does SCA type jousting) and me.
