Pennsic War Points

Post by igelkott »

Anybody else notice that the war point schedule is out as well as descriptions of the battles? You can find it at http://www.pennsicwar.org/penn35/MARTIAL/warpoints.html

The battles look a bit different this year.

Woods battle - two one-hour battles, instead of the two-hour one. Reactions?

Anyone know who's allied with who, this year? I understand the sides are going to be a bit more "even," this year... :-)

I love the new woods battle idea. Most people crap out after an hour and just sit at the rez point anyway.

Will give us an hour of heavy fighting, time to get some air, then another hour of mayhem

I'm interested in the town battle. That just looks cool.

I'd rather be outnumbered. Last pennsic was sooooooo much fun. I drove all that way to fight. I'd rather have too many to fight over too few.

I still think that the biggest change is the lack of Bridge Battles. Never thought I would see a Pennsic with no proper Bridge Battle. Agreed, the Broken Field battle could easily become one, but with people able to ford the river, I doubt it will be the biggest point of contention.

I do like having the two Woods Battles, especially with the decision to involved combat archery in the second. Those who don't fight in battles with CA in them have the opportunity to compete for the first hour and have their contribution make a difference.

I also very much like having a day in the middle of War to allow those with "issues" a chance to recuperate, given that the Castle Battle is a non-point battle. Not that I would advocate anyone skipping the fun, especially the opportunity to beat up on poor ol' Aethelmearc  , but I do see it as a day for me to rest my blistered feet (yes, I ALWAYS get blisters on my feet at War - its a non-treatable skin condition :( ). Lots of soaking and sunning...and maybe a little schmoozing :D .

That last battle looks a little goofy....hope it works out ok. I love that there are no offical bridges and that there are two woods battles and multiple resurrection points.

It does seem strange that there's no Bridge Battle as such, although the Castle Battle includes three bridges. Archery in the Woods Battle sounds like a lot of lost arrows to me.

Immediately following the Castle Battle is the Allied Battle. What is that exactly?

I'll just be happy to be there.

Archery in the woods battle sounds like I should set up a tree stand overlooking a banner.

We should do three field battles instedad of two... Same with the broken field battle.

Or better yet just do those battles till 1PM

The more fighting the better.

Side battles are greatly encouraged; by me anyway. I like the "hey you you wanna fight battles." Some of the best memories I have of Pennsic are pick up battles. Just remember to put the hay bails back if you use them, probably should ask first to use them just in case.

Better yet Nissan set up a website that allows people to log on line during the woods battle and when they hit the enter button it shoots an arrow at the guy that comes into the webcam. You could charge for the website and everything. Then again Copora might pass a law saying that isn't fighting and you do not have to take a shot fired over the internet. I can see it now "how many guys you got?" "I have 300 on the field and 7,000 internet archers. And by the way because you are not within ten feet of them they never die!"

Hmmm - I have another Idea, too, here, Your Majesty - I'll set up a stand in the merchant area, and for a small fee we'll hack into the server of the website and make sure a random internet archer has one of my Ring Tribe goons show up on their doorstep, and clubs them like a baby harp seal.

And I know just the guy to do it, too - Eirik Archersbane.

Hmmm. Oh, the possibilities...
