Well, I finally finished my dane ax today. I started it in July and happy with the results. I made it using Sir Justus's technique for a leather ax (thanks Justus). I modified the technique a little. Half of the ax head is minicell foam and leather. I wraped a piece of leather around the ax and haft to hold it together, and tooled the leather wrap with the gripping dragon design from the mammen ax. I painted in the tooling with silver acrylic paint to make it look like silver inlay. I also stained the haft with rosewood stain to make it look more like wood. I look forward to fighting with it tommorow. Here are few pictures of it as the paint is drying.

Thank you, if you are heading to Melrakki's Pennsic Pity Party, please feel free to try it out and tell me how it handles.

I'm not going to make it, unfortunately. I will look forward to trying it out sometime though.

That is pretty sweet, man. I really appreciate the effort you went to, to replicate the Mammen inlay.

I am going to have a go at making a lugged spear using leather to create the outline of the spearhead. We'll see how it goes but I'm really enjoying everbody elses work.

Thanks guys.
