A different kind of Dream Team.

Post by Angusm0628 »

Been reading the threads on various "dream teams". Noticed something quite prominent..Almost all the names are Chiv with very little mention of unbelts. Now I know there are unbelts out there who are worth more than their salt when it comes to melees. So here's a poser for you. A ten man team (any kingdom of residence) with their preferred forms No chivalry to be included.
The following would be my list.

Thorvaldr Frirsverth- Aethelmearc- Polearm and field commander
Michael Fitzgerald -East- Sword shield
Havoc the Wild Aethelmearc- Sword shield
Wil D'eth -Aethelmearc- Spear/Polearm
Keryan Kincaid -East- Polearm/spear
Myself Aethelmearc- Polearm/spear
Wei Lung Atlantia Sword Shield
Talun the Bastard Atlantia Polearm
Garret Du Buclier Noir formerly Aethelmearc now East Sword shield
Geoffrey Hammerhand East Sword shield- (Yeah I know Geoffrey hasn't been fighting much lately but as a melee Weapon and shield he's murder)

I realize my list is full of nothing but members of my household but since we fight together alot and know how each other works. It becomes a given that your dream team be familiar to you for the most effect.

OK... I have to ask. I like to think I'm pretty active and aware in Atlantia.

Who the hell is this guy? Where's he from? Why haven't I seen him at a tourney where I've been paying attention? Is he/she from Border Vale Keep?

I'd make 9 clones of William Thomas.

So, Willy-T, the original, Atlantia, Sword and Shield
Clone of Will #1, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #2, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #3, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #4, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #5, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #6, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #7, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #8, Atlantia, Sword and shield
Clone of Will #9, Atlantia, Sword and shield

Okay....So William Thomas would be one..Clones don't happen.. There has to more than just one guy in all of Atlantia that would make a good addition to an unbelt team. I'm not all that familiar with Atlantian fighters but Sir Corby's squire seemed to be pretty decent with a polearm (unless that's the guy yer referring to in which case he's already mentioned)

If we could do clones...

5 Gunther der Dunkle and 5 Wulfstan the Unshod...variety is the spice of life.

Since we can't...

Gunther der Dunkle East S/S
Otto von Ulm East Pole
Roger Stockton East Pole
Alexander Hamshelm Northshield S/S
Dietrich von Ulm East S/S
Brennan mac Feargus East S/S
Aegis East S/S
Wulfstan the Unshod East Anything...a rattan toothpick if you want
Magnus Tindel Aethelmearc S/S
Elglin East S/S

There are others I could add, but this is a group I'd like to see. I have worked with 9 of them. I've practiced with Tindel for a few months and now that I've faced him in melee, I think he would work well with this group.

6 of the 8 from the East are OTCs (EK fighting award). All the East were on Unbelted champs, the other 2 were on Allied champs.

Let's see what I can come up with for Northshield...

Vlad Radescu (spear or pole, unless unusual cirumstances dictate shield)
Evon Jons (pole)
Baron Adrien de Troyes (shield)
Viscount Gaius Niklos Luctator (pole)
Yngvar (most likely shield, unless pole is dictated, spelled it wrong last time)
Agnarr (shield)
Alexander (shield)
Roisin (pole or spear, because it's melee)
Padruig Maclennan (spear, pole or combat archery  )
Halvdan Lackbeard (shield, spear, or pole)

I hope to someday meet this fellow. This is the kind of outlook on our combat I treasure.

Just my experience from dealing with Wulfstan a couple of times. Granted he most likely would not remember me.

But was walking away from the fight wondering what the hell just happened. :)

My first encounter with him, was when I was a decently hot unbelt in Atlantia, and walking away from the fight wondering if I should just quit now and get into crocheting contests. :)

He is the perfect example I use in my mental fights, when I fight someone in gear that is not impressive and looks like they just started. Teaches early on, that looks can and usually are, very decieving. :)

:D

It's the kind of contest I treasure. Just a litany of weapons on the sidelines and just saying..hey, what would you like to fight now?
