Sir Thomas has come up wiht a great idea (I think he made this before he became a Peer). Five Yards of silk, Four of which make up the tails. It is called an oriflamme (?) and managed to slip through pretty much all of the rules resrictions/changes. Just add 20 ft pole. He has his arms on the first yard, and then simply carried the color combination onto the tails (along with mottos, I think).
Westerners, we have forgotten our origins. We speak all the diverse languages of the country in turn. Indeed the man who was poor at home attains opulence here; he who had no more than a few deiners, finds himself master of a fourtune.
Sorry but Wt would be a bad sheep after all....

"I think you're wrong in your understanding of fighting.... though what you have written is very manly, it does not convey a real sense of clue...." - Sir Christian The German
Ahh your lack of blaxplotation movie experience betrays you.
The man is used interchangeably and often confusingly to describe THE MAN as in Whitey Government, and also the The Man as an the black man, poor man, any man except Government man.
It’s all about context, and never used together.
“Whitey always keeping the/a man down”
“The Man always trying to keep a brother down”
Both mean the same thing.
Ya dig?

That is a great looking crew, and the banners add a lot to the atsmophere. I gotta get me one.
Not that we need more rules... but it would be kind of cool if we established a set of sumptuary "suggestions"that would guide how people displayed thier banner based on rank.
Certian size shape reguations based on rank and station ect.
However our very broad scope would make something like that all but unworkable.

Funny you should mention that.
What do you think the guidelines were that was used in creating the banners? After all, we had a Countess and knight/baron of the realm to consider.
But seriously in regards to banners and displays it would not be much to come up with an article about such usage through out the SCA timeframe.
Take the 15th century for example:

I think I have another project added to my plate.
You have to push the little yellow button to load it.

Man, this thread really appears to have been badly hijacked, but let me return for a moment to the subject matter at hand. It was great having so many good photographers at the Crown Tourney, and I've enjoyed looking through them. Let me add my humble efforts to the mix:

Hope you like them. Kudos to all my fellow shutter-bugs.

It seems that Darkness is after my poor knights title. How truly sad, Bryce use to be the singing knight in Atlantia. Then here comes Darkness with all his instruments and all his new songs and steals my poor knights title of “ATLANTIA’S SINGING KNIGHTâ€

My reign of terror is not complete.
I had someone aske me to sing a song (that I've been singing for 12 years), and then said, "Could you sing it the way Bryce does?"
No, Bryce is old skool here, the "good old days" stories actualy include him. It will be another ten years till I'm in the good old days stories, and then of course they will be the bad old days stories.
But I could never usurp his title of "Interknight" that is Holy, and can only be confered by this guy.

Justus as a stick figure.![]()
note that I'm holding the axe below the blade

Unlike a certain other individual I can name. As for the whole stick-figure thing...I don't need help for the light work.
"Death Star of Caer Mear"? You're gonna pay for that antenna boy!
Remember that you pulled the pin ...the resulting explosion is alllllll yours.

Mr. Sir Corby says......
Some things in life are bad and make you really mad
Others make you want to swear and curse
When you're chewin' on life's gristle - don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And.......
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
When life seems jolly rotten, there's something you've forgotten
How to smile and laugh and dance and sing
When your life is in the dumps, don't be silly chumps
Purse your lips and whistle that's the thing
And.......
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
Life is so absurd and death's the final word
But with the curtain you must take a bow
Forget about your sin - Give the audience a grin
Enjoy it it's your last chance anyhow
And......
Always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of shit when you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true
don't forget it's all a show Keep 'em laughin' as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you
(big finish)
And........
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
