I think that tradition dates to a decade or so before my brother Logan knew rattan was good for something besides furniture.

I plead ignorance and youth. :D

You can make furniture out of rattan???

Once in desperate need of a new sword I took a long hard look at my Papa-san chair.

I would have done it too, but the rattan was less than an 1 1/4

Heh. That just begs a "caption contest". The photography is SO good that it really does look like the sword is hovering in front of his opponent.

Overall I was impressed with the fighting rigs and the photography.

The photography overall was especially great. The subjects were colorful, the action dynamic and the photographers really "cropped" action down to the action itself. Very professional, overall for each gallery.

The fighting looked like fun. Emegrating to Atlantia will be fun...but I seem a bit unfashionable...garb and armour were at least up to my standard, and mostly well above what I can do!

And it certainly looked like fun!

Wish I was there!

I did one very similar already

But this one was worth the repeat. Great picture.

And those are the "small pics" cut down from 2800 by 2100 pix.
Here are a few crown inspired motivational posters. His Highness provided some really great photo ops.

Good pics guys! And of course, Ursus was there too.... :-)

It was crazy just how many folks had cameras at this crown....

Also, one thing that is clear, as the kits get better looking, the few folks that don't work on covering exposed items do start to stand out really badly. The plastic showing wear the fabric had ripped off my shield basket...white socks and tennis shoes...that stuff look WAY out of place. I know for me it will be a motivator...

That is Sir Colin Gorden, formerly Sir Corby's squire, and Ld. Ragnarr Ribcracker, who had an execellent showing in the tourney.

Any picture of me and him fighting will not show the truth. He owned me that whole fight. I give him full credit for controlling that fight. That said, he "woke me up." Ragnarr impressed me with his fighting all day long.

Wow! Some great pictures. It makes me want to go down to Atlantia and do some fighting there!

You, and everyone else, are always welcome. Fierce fighting, southern hospitailty, good folks.

We are truly blessed with a glorious realm. We know we are lucky. If it comes acrost as prideful, well, it is.

That is a great looking crew, and the banners add a lot to the atsmophere. I gotta get me one.

Not that we need more rules... but it would be kind of cool if we established a set of sumptuary "suggestions" that would guide how people displayed thier banner based on rank.

Certian size shape reguations based on rank and station ect.

However our very broad scope would make something like that all but unworkable.

We used to have that in Meridies. I would recocmend against it, as it, at least from the outside, tends to discourage people from doing vexilogical display. Which is the opposite of what we want.

This is what they used to be:

STANDARDS: ROYAL PEERS: KINGS/QUEENS 8 YARDS OR GREATER, PLUS A
1 YARD MERIDIAN FLAG AT HOIST.
DUKE/DUCHESS 7 YARDS WITH A 1 YARD MERIDIAN
FLAG AT HOIST.
COUNT/COUNTESS 6 YARDS WITH A 1 YARD MERIDIAN
FLAG AT HOIST.
VISCOUNT(ESS) 5 YARDS WITH A 1 YARD MERIDIAN
FLAG AT HOIST. (suggested)
(Note; While a PRINCE/PRINCESS would theoretic-
ally be entitled to a standard, probably of
about 7 yards, it would be somewhat presump-
tuous, since they would carry their Sire's own
arms in fact. Additionally, it would be some-
what of a wasted effort in SCA usage, since it
would only be usable for the time before they
were crowned-unless they were serving their sec-
ond reign, in which case it could be used once
they were DUKE/DUCHESS).

BESTOWED PEERS: 5 YARDS WITH A 1 YARD MERIDIAN
FLAG AT HOIST.
LANDED BARONS/BARONESSES: 4 YARDS WITH A 1 YARD MERIDIAN
FLAG AT HOIST.

GUIDONS: KNIGHTS AND 2 YARDS WITH A 1 YARD MERIDIAN
COMMISSIONED FLAG AT HOIST IS SUGGESTED, A
FIGHTERS: SCHWENKEL OR SWALLOW TAIL AT FLY.

BANNERS: ROYAL PEERS: KING/QUEEN 4 YARDS, MINIMUM

DUKE/DUCHESS 3 YARDS.

COUNT/COUNTESS 2 YARDS.

VISCOUNT(ESS) 1 YARD (suggested)

PENNONS: ROYAL PEERS: ALL TAPERING TO A SINGLE POINT.

BESTOWED PEERS: KNIGHTS TAPERING TO A SINGLE POINT.

PENNONCELS: PERMITTED OF POPULACE AT LARGE. MUST BE DAGGED, SWALLOW-
TAILED, ETC AT FLY.

GONFALONS: PERMITTED OF POPULACE AT LARGE.

Now the rules say:

Standards
There shall be reserved one type of heraldic flag for display that is fitting the prestige and honor for the order of the peerages known as the STANDARD. The standard shall be identified by the use of the Kingdom Badge (NOT the Kingdom Arms) at the hoist, “Argent, on a fess sable, a crown of three points between two mullets argent.â€

Oh I don't know there DARKNESS, I think WT would agree that you look more like this....

Image

And you have to forgive our brother Justus for his momentary laspes in judgement re: standard sizing for pennons. He has a lot of 'furrin' wrong minded ideas that haven't been de-programmed from him yet. Give him time, he is still a new Atlantian Knight....

OK that now that is funny. I was going to do it myself, but they say that darkness always hides his true identity.

Ohh come on, the banner thing would be cool if people didn't get their tail in their crack about it. It would be awesome to get your peerage and unfurl your new banner ect, or to look out across the field and see hte different banners by rank.

But as I said, we can't seem to do anything without it becoming a huge headache.

But I have my own house now dangit, and it will be my custom.

Yeah Rev those rules sucked.

The only people who could have jack....didn't do it.
