Ah, but (please excuse the further thread derail), that look is a two-edge sword, which infrequently cuts both ways.
(To fully appreciate this story, you have to realize that Sean Michael was one of those blessed few squires who recieved their red belt not just for fighting promise, but for barding skills, and general wise-assedness.)
Once Kief was telling Sean Michael about his mother, who was working at shoe store, and sending random shoes his way. "I must have a half dozen shoes I won't ever wear," said Kief. "A half dozen, really?" asked Sean Michael.
Kief gave himself that same look.

Yup. And if memory serves, the other gentleman in the pic is one of Vitus' squires whose name escapes me at the moment.
That was taken a couple of years ago at the Saline Celtic festival, and was either the first joust or one of the first for Leo's horse, Damascus. This year was Damascus' last year jousting. He's getting too old (25, I believe.)
Fortunately, Leo got a rescue horse that's worked out perfectly.

getting this kit put together has been a long and winding road.
the arms and legs came from allan over at the mercenaries tailor, he has always been awesome to work with, did the custom decorative work on the rondelles as well. the coat of plates came from steel mastery, i got a good deal on this because they royally screwed me on the helm i had previously ordered.
the crowning touch is obviously the helm, it was made by jackie at shamrock armory.
he did an amazing job from just a few sketched i provided.
You don't happen to have higher resolution copies of these pics. I like to put up pics in my cube at work to inspire me toward my own kit, and as this fits my time period, its perfect. I print them on 11x17 at 300dpi. As small as these are, they'll get distorted that big.
This kit is truly inspiring.

This thread is getting ready to get updated & cropped. If you have any pics that aren't in the first post, that you want to save, you better right-click-save tout-de-suite.
Also, a reminder of the guidelines;
Let's see some pics that are...
1 - as close to period as we can get
2 - would appeal to some new guy who likes ninja armour and
3 - IS COMPLETELY BADA$$.
#3 is very very important.
10/23/2009
You should look at Jestyr's article on 'Covered Armour'
9/25/2009
A couple of other notes; All fighting disciplines in the Society are welcome in this thread. This is a Society recruitment thread, after all. I'd particularly love to see some siege stuff, equestrian, steel-fighting, archery (of all kinds), and whatever else you can do in the Society.
My criteria are entirely subjective based on how much coffee I've had when I hit the 'edit' button. But, I do want to see as accurate, neat, and tidy as possible. Raise the bar, people. Avoid blatant SCA-ism as possible; if we're trying to recruit, then having trimlock edging on your pig-face bascinet it just ruins the mood.
And lastly, remember, geek rehabilitation. Get them away from their Wow screens and onto the field.

Re: Pics that would inspire new guys. (updated 1/15!)
Along the lines of inspirational, may I suggest some then and now pics? Someone that has wow kit now but started in something less than stellar. Some before pics that a new person can relate to. That way the newbie can be shown what they can become even if they don't have the resources to do it to start with. Not crap stuff, but some ho, hum, yes they did make an attempt kits. Don't want to encourage them to start with junk, but to show the potential of what might be if they work on it and start right. Might need to be a separate thread, but I can see the value of it here for inspiration to newbies not willing to drop tons of cash into something they just started but still look good.

Though I vastly prefer being inspired by and inspiring others through the quality of fighting, behavior, words, and deeds both on and off the field... I have been advised that the image below is inspiring. So I submit it for your consideration.

I think that they are mostly found on the 1420 version of "14th c. armour" but who is counting? With the roll on the top of the bottom plate, the form of the knee, the size of the wing and form of the wing I would vote more 1440 ish...
But given the overall look and what is generally on the field in the SCA, let's not pick on that. It looks good enough.
