Thanks Rome!

It was mind blowing.

I have to thank Baroness Kiena and Syr Artorius for working so hard to make sure I was throughly overwhelmed and surprised on the day. I'm fortunate and blessed all the way around.

Officer, I swear that's not my dead stripper in the trunk. Mine's in the river.

But seriously,

Those whom I measure my prowess against would find me lacking. I would agree with this assessment whole-heartedly.

Mayhap one day, before I die, If God and the King deem it to be so, maybe I will have progressed in my abilities and gained the attributes to walk amongst the giants. If they call me brother, so be it.

If not, I will not lament. For me, this path has no greater prize than that of the challenges I am presented to overcome, and those whom I meet (of all stripes) along the way.

This is going to sound very corny, especially from a guy with less than a year in, but:

I saw him fighting in the campions tournament at Crusades, then I met him (shortly after he killed me :) ) and he was humble and polite with a new guy nobody knew. (or knows for that matter)

Then he saluted us...

You Atlantians and Easterners that were there can give faith of this. There was the heat prostrated, exhausted remainder of the Atlantian Army, facing a larger (equally tired and hot) Eastern host. He gets in front of his people and addresses US Atlantians, and praises the valour and endurance of the small leftover of our Army who was still fighting his own army, and who was about to fight them again, and again...

Heck you could hear the theme of Return of the King as he spoke. I was on the enemy side and I was inspired by him.

From the place of the lines of the Atlantian Army where the newest of us are allowed to stand, I join my request to that of Sir Vitus.

Syr Vitus, Rowan, et al

There is no way for me to express the great appreciation I have in your trust for my character. I thank you, and I will use your words as the star I guide my compas by, that I may through my actions do proper justice, and be worth of them.

As I have said: knowing that I have had a positive impact on you and our Society is a gift greater than any accolade, than any prize, than any recognition.

I believe that only one man can make me a Knight of the SCA, and that would be me.

We all know that a member of Chivalry in the SCA requires many attributes. Courticy, Conduct, Knowledge of the Arts, Largess, and others. The greatest attribute one must posess: Prowess.

I feel I have made strides on my journey on the path of Chivalry, and I am at a point where I'm learning to effectively bring different aspects of my knowledge to bear in the lyst. Recently I have seen my fighting improve trememdously as I have been tought -- and learned -- to trust in my defense. Seems simple, but when actionably applied, it opens many doors.

Now it is time for me to work my offence to the level where I trust it with my life. I have much to do in this area, and swear that I will endevor or die in the attempt. I look forward to honing this skill, and in turn discovering a new weakness that I may learn to improve, and so on.

As I said, I am very content in the knowledge that I have inspired even one person. As I have also said, I believe that there are many who have done more than I and have yet to be recognized.

Chivalry

Post by Lucan Dux »

Greetings all,

When the Eastern Order of Chivalry decides Baron Diomedes is ready, he will be inducted.

I am very proud of what my grand squire has accomplished, as is his Knight Syr Artorious. We revel in the honors he continues to bring to our Society, Kingdom & Duchy. His enthusiasm and comportment are exemplary and infectious. I look forward to the day his prowess is recognized by the Eastern Order of Chivalry as sufficient and will whole heartedly rejoice on that day.

Until then, he is a Squire and has much to learn.
