I'm going to have limit eventing for awhile

Post by Aaron »

Hi,

We WERE going to Pennsic until my wife's doctor's appointment results on Thursday.

Now she'll need to go to the hospital every week for shots between now and November. We're "housebound" now. We'll, she is, and it's not nearly as much fun going to any events without her. It's still fun, but still not as much fun. Just like sex, it's not as much fun by yourself.

So Pennsic is out, and we'll be flying in to visit my Mom and Dad, and Maureen will have to turn around and fly back three days after we land.

The good news is Mom and Dad still plan on taking the kids, and we'll just be spending that time at home doing yardwork and housework together. Anytime we can spend together is good, but time spent together at Pennsic would have been better.

With regret,

Sorry to hear about it Aaron. I hope it isn't anything too serious.

I know lots of people in different areas host Pennsic Pity Party events. If you don't have a local one, maybe you should host one. I get the feeling alot of people will be feel the crush of the gas prices and the economic 'slow down' and might have to miss out.

I love hosting events. We're working on setting up the backyard into a sort of "mini-event site". We could host maybe 15 people (two bathrooms). I know we can set up five tents on the site, because the Cub Scouts did.

Aaron invest in a porta potty. its worth it. Or you could set up a screen and a couple of Piss Tubes like we had in Iraq.

I feel your pain. I haven't been able to make it to events or even practices regularly since 2002.
Life just sort of got in the way.

Aaron,
I hope your wife is going to be alright. My wife and moved back to OH 4 years ago (about an hour and a half to two hours from Coopers Lake) and life, work, school, and finances have conspired against our going 4 years in a row :x . Oh well, we have committed to going next year after I graduate, and start the new job I already have lined up (YAAAYYYY for 14 paid days off in the first year!!!!!!).
I will add you and your Lady to my regularly prayed for list, I hope she will be well.
Respectfully, Yours in Service,

Aaron, we met and spoke at ToC but because for most (almost all) of the day I was fighting only Knights, we did not cross swords.

I was one of those (I'm sure there were others) who remarked that you "rose" to the occasion.

That your Lady Wife inspires you to such acts of gallantry as cresting your helm with a rose shows that she is indeed special to you. And that you will pass up Pennsic for her sake shows it even more.

I will pray for her health and the success of the treatment you describe.

And if someone raises the "absent friends" toast at Pennsic, you two will be among those I remember.

Aaron, will you and Maureen be attending Highland River Melees the second weekend in June? It's in Hagerstown (MD). Shouldn't be more than 1 to 2 hours' drive via I-70. I'm hoping to go myself; perhaps we can camp near each other.

Thank you, everyone!

We should be attending local events.

Maureen (Midori) has had quite awful nasal drip for quite some time, and spends a lot of time spitting out the window. It's no fun and I don't think she thinks it's very ladylike either. :(

So she was tested for allergies at Walter Reed and they put a little allergan of each type on her arms, in little spots.

Two hours later she came out smiling, but COVERD in spots on her arms, like a cheeta's skin, but blushing.

She's basically allergic to everything outside, and most everything inside (cats, dogs, dust, chemicals, etc...). I told her she is confined to the bathtub and will be served food and chocolate (she's not allergic to that) regularly.

But she needs shots once a week for six months. :(

Get her a closed-face helm with a respirator inside for events. And full plate armor to go with it.:)
