And now, a little story about jousting.

For those of us who wish to talk about the many styles and facets of recreating Medieval armed combat.

The thing to do is to find someone who has built children sized armor and has it on the shelf because it has been outgrown. She could be LENT a suit for a period of time and it would be far less costly then building new.

Just an idea.

My daughters love it. Maybe we can get a copy to this awesome little girl in the UK. Maredudd, can you find if it is available in the UK? I'd love to send her a copy, (perhaps through you?)

My daughter's armour from when she was eight would probably fit the girl. My daughter would let her use it here in the states for a bit, but we aren't taking a chance on shipping it overseas (mild steel and my daughter doesn't want it far, far away, emotional attachment, it is on a stand in our living room). But I'd be happy to sent $20 to help with an armour project of some kind if that can be arranged. E-Mail me.

My wife and I think that it is very important that we all encourage this young lady. If she has a suit of her own, even if she does out grow it soon, it would be something that she could look back on in later years and say " Look what I did, I wonder what else I could do..." Who knows, if she sticks with it she could be a world champion by the time she is 18! Not to mention it would do our collective sports good if there was a follow -up article saying that she was now armed, armoured and ready to compete thanks to the Armour Archive :D
Cheers,

I'll get on to Warwick and the Birmingham Post as soon as I finish typing this and see if we can do something for her.
Edit I have contacted Warwick and they will contact Kristina's parents

As above, I believe Maredudd had offered to do so, based on his proximity and armoring capability. But I have not seen any further posting from him here. He may be still trying to contact people there.

My first thought after seeing the helmet and the green coat is that somebody shot Sir Corby with a shrink ray.

But when someone thought it was Sir Vitus, that made me snicker in my Wheaties.

I'm in for a couple of bucks.

Thank you.

I tried to download the picture so I could put that tag line into the 'motivational poster' site and send it to the fight practice board to inspire the locals, but it would not let me save it. Rights protected I guess.

Hey,

I just realized something.

I have a helmet that would fit her. I got it (for free, I think) with my loaner helm thing, and it is just too small for anybody.

It's a nice bar grille bascinet. The bars could be yanked and a pig face or houndscull visor put on.

Right now it's "decor" in a local Irish pub.

As of today I have still not heard back from her parents (I have been trying through both Warwick Castle and the Birmingham Post newspaper).
The state of child protection issues in this country is such that any more direct approach "could" be taken as stalking.
All I can do is (as I already have) to provide my contact details and the offer from the Archive, and ask them to contact me. If they don't want to go for it, we cant do anything about it.

It just occured to me, that our Robyn who lives in Europe (I forgot which country, sorry) is very small in stature but big in heart. Robyn might not be much bigger than the young lady. Maybe she would be a good person to help with this and give advice about armour for a petite female warrior. For all I know her armour might fit the youngster as well so she could try on full plate (Stonekeep made Robyn's IIRC).

Sir Richard,

I have mentioned this to Rob, and I expect that she will be chiming in here soon.

In the meantime, I am sitting on twenty bucks (my contribution) and an Ironmonger bascinet.

Where do I send it? I want it to go out monday, before I forget.

I am not in great shape money wise either, but we have already contacted the castle and the girl's parents. We need to follow through.

We really don't want to dither and break out collective word to a little girl.

I think it was a story in a magazine, but I recall a tale of a noble lady who refused to accept the gender role. I don't remember the details but I do recollect one line, which she repeated often:
I won't be a Lady, and sew a fine seam,
I'll be a knight, and I'll follow my dream!

Somebody please PM me the address to send this stuff to.

Guys, our word is good. Lets make this happen. Is there somebody on this archive in the British isles who can take a bar grille off a helm, and install a pig face?

Sorry to bump this, but I was impressed with the outpouring of good will that the Archive put together with this one.

I have the tiny bascinet, and Maredudd has said that he can probably get the helm re-faced with a pig face or a houndskull. It is leaving with Archiver Ezsa for England tomorrow, with my twenty bucks.

And, I have the address that you will need if you are one of the wonderful people that have promised donations.

This is so cool!

I'm glad you helped out.

I too had promised $20 and will indeed send it, but I did not receive the mailing address or who to make the check out to. Please forward the information to me at theregent@optonline.net
