This is a tourney for Novice fighters. The format will be a Shark Pool with some of the top fighters moving on to further rounds. Final details will be determined on the day of the Tourney depending on the number of fighters entering. All authorized weapons forms will be allowed. Standard SCA conventions will apply.

Entry Requirements: For the purposes of this tourney, Novice is classified as:

* any authorized fighter whose PRIMARY authorization date falls within two years to the day of the Tourney, THIS INCLUDES time spent authorized in Youth Combat
* not a KSCA
* not a Peer by right of Arms by their own hand

It is a day earlier than last year to help alleviate some of the high volume of requests for Sunday - but we were able to get it fairly late in the day to allow for the high volume of the Saturday arrivals. I would appreciate any of the members of the Chivalry who are willing to come out and help marshal for me.

Can you explain the "Shark Pool" format please? I have not heard the expression before.

Several groups of fighters are made depending on how many fighters show up. Anywhere between five to eight guys per group. Every man fights everyone once. Person with the most kills in that group is the "winner." Then every group's winners get together, make their own shark pool, person with the most kills is the winner.

I fought in last year's Novice Tourney. I did terribly, but had a great amount of fun and fought some very talented new fighters.

Would you accept marshalling help from those of us who are NOT chivalry?

The last two novice tourneys were indeed some of the highlights of my brief fighting career.

I think I had 7 fights last year in the pool I was in last Pennsic.
