I wonder if this guy has a laurel in costumes or photography?

He has almost every SCA cliché possible. The only thing missing it a Celtic knot work camera strap.

I dont see why you feel the need to single out someone and thrash his effort. Maybe hes not perfect but ive seen much worse.
This is a game and being mean isnt anyway to help it get better.
Just my thoughts.

It seems you may feel the same way, if you think I am being "mean". I just said he may have a laurel and every SCA cliché. (I was not trying to be “meanâ€

Still no reason to pic a random photo and slam a guy you dont even know.
I Passed on the link mainly for fighters that were there and would like to get some photos of themselves. I understand what your saying but I still think picking someone out of a crowd and making fun of them is highschool juvenile behavior.

Sorry

Oh, but I pick on people I know all the time in a highschool juvenile way.
Just ask Ugo. I picked on him and he no longer wears skull shaped helmets and New Rock boots at events. Now he even likes to make period looking armour.
Plus, I picked on just about every fighter you photographed, so it was not JUST one random guy.

Well, Ok so I helped guide Ugo to period armour, he's still fighting with that dumb madu!

Dont know about Romans, but we did have large numbers of Spartans on both sides for some odd reason...

(and as for the tabards, we were obeying the wishes of our King, not following the "heard")

Thank you so much for the pictures.

It was a total blast. Rasper77 is a great person to hang out with, a little scarry in that we think the same way. It was great to put some faces and voices to some of the names I know from on here. Those of you that didn't make it, you sure missed out.

Magnus Djúpúðga judge the armour as you will, to me where I look the most for authanticity is in shoes off the field. Two years ago at the same war I walked around all weekend and counted maybe 5prs of period shoes, this year I found as many as a dozen in just one small group of people standing around talking, with more in the next camp, from what I've seen the trend seems to be people put the time effort and money into there garb first with the shoes being the last thing, then into there armour to look authintic, so i think the armour will come allong as time progresses, then again so many of us AnTirrians are redneck hillbillies so maybe there will always be a large contigency off bailing wired jerry rigged armour.

damn I look good  http://images.kodakgallery.com/servlet/ ... 6_0_BG.jpg?

OOOOHHH...Pretty crest to hit......

Knitebee....Is your camp the one with the rampant squirrel? Above the gate???? I remember someone posting a picture for an Archive gathering, and saw that camp in the photos.....Also just got off the phone with Tomas(Tom Richardson) from Portland...Said he was camping there and how great everyone was, and that event was what he and Mike had been looking for.....

I been telling him about how nice the SCA folks was.....We go way back to the Realms of Avalon and Adrian Empire days.....If that was your camp...Thanks man for making my friend feel at home.... :D

Thank you, but it was our pleasure to host Tomas and others. The Rampant squirrel household is all about showing others how much fun can be had with a little common courtisy and an edge of historicalness.

As to the crest on my helm bring it on, its leathers stuffed with cotton so quite resiliant and flexible, once in a while a stitch gets broken or I loose one of the points that holds it to my helm otherwise it takes a LOT of abuse and still looks good.

This war was possibly the most fun I've had at an event. It was also the first time the Iron Ring has been able to fight as a combined force, and we were stuck right into the middle of the fighting. Earl Edward praised us for how well we did, and was apparently surprised to find out that this was our first war fighting as a group based on how well we did.

Ugo's armor makes me want to cry because mine will NEVER look that sexay. I am overwhelmed with envy. But at the same time, I am really proud to share a field with a man who does work that good.

I LOVE that his gorget articulates as well as it does, and that his helm interlocks with it so that absolutely none of his neck is exposed. Wish he was active on the archive, because I'd love to see more of his work.

He IS active here. He hasn't posted much lately, but he has been on the AA for quite some time. Just do a search for Ugo.

Thanks for posting this... Caught a few shots of myself in here. :)

On the left with the pike shot passing harmlessly over my shoulder. I died a few seconds later but what the hell... it was a blast.

That was your first war fighting together? You guys did an awesome job. I'm one of the Thunder guys who were right behind you most of the war (red and black round shield).

This was one of the best An Tir / West wars that I can remember. The fighting was awesome and everyone all fought hard and clean. There was at least 2 times I remember having one of our opponents stop to check if I was ok after taking a good spear shot to the grill.

I would also like to thank Knitebee for loaning my brother his armour for this war. His armour looked incredible, best loaner armour I have ever seen :)

I wish I could have fought longer to have given them more of a chance at it, but I was recovering from phemonia so I only fought the first senereo then loaned out most of my armour (I kept the crest and breastplate) to Cedrics brother.

Cedrc, no needs for thanks, Brendon is a great guy, an even better friend and a huge example of the friendly welcomihng side of the SCA.

Knitebee is a complete stand up guy.
There was a fighter that was missing elbows and Knitebee sat down and pounded him out some very nice looking Gothic floating elbows.
and thats not even a dent to the amount of time he gave people for armor/repairs. Very fun, and giving guy.

There are several albums out there now with more to come I'm sure. Here are a few that I've seen so far:

Syele, Bard of the West

Theiadora

Gelis has posted her pics of West/AnTir
http://shutt3rg33k.smugmug.com/

I'm partial to this pic:
http://shutt3rg33k.smugmug.com/gallery/ ... 9128_NRyXx

It's a group pic of Duke Greyhelm (the old beared guy in the middle) and (some of but not all of) the lineage he has sired (up to 5 generations now) through his time in the SCA. Included in the pic to name is Duke Jade, Duke Uther (current Crown Prince of the West), Count Reinmar (current King of Artemesia), Sir Titus (current King of the West), Sir Evandyr, Sir Roric, Sigifrith (current Prince of the Mist) and the rest being squires/men-at-arms to the various knights.
