Well, we had it. After the bridges and Champions stuff.

We had a total of 6 persons there. Nissan and I headed up the red and white. I was pretty fried by that point in the week, and I seem to have deleted the email where 2 of the guys sent pictures, so I have no other names than Akira Minamoto, who I already knew.

Nissan got the 2 guys who had contacted me earlier. Surprisingly, both looked better than their photos, because they had worked on pieces before showing up. Very nice. They had gone the same route I had, using ringmesh.com's stuff for their kote, and painting it black. Nissan had added some very nice ikada and elbow bits to his kote along with mail, and I'd added haidate and mail kote (having given up on the new dou and the kote paltes the previous week). Koha didn't fight because his kabuto isn't quite right for combat yet, though he got a lot of compliments on the rest of his kit.

I got Akira and the other guy who saw it on the schedule and showed up.

We were pretty relaxed on the requirements as it went. So we reviewed the rules, and went at it. Pretty much everyone was using pole weapons.

Nissan challenged, and I counter-challenged with a (brief) statement of my lineage. He got one shot in on me, and I backed out of engagement to clear my head and pick a target. We ended up in 2 2 on 1's -- poor Akira ended up on his own and without a head, as did the guy we double-teamed. There was another inconclusive clash, I think, then we broke engagement again. I ended up catching Nissan with his hands high, grabbed the haft of his tetsubo, and let my compatriot commence with the head shots. I cut off his head, though it was removed from the field before I could get back to it. This left only one left for the red, who we dispatched.

I took 2 heads, and lost one (Nissan's). My other teammate took the other.

At the end, there were weapons lying all over (I dropped my armor piercer after taking Nissan's head, ebcause I needed to get back in quick).

Anyway, we had more people watching than playing. The watchers weren't in armour.

Murdock has video.

I'm unlikely to make Pennsic next year, but I'd still like to see this continue (if only to see those people who say it needs to keep happening show up). Any takers?

I'd like to thank my retainers, Sir Monos of Aethelmark for escaping with my severed head so that my enemies could not display it in the capital and Lady Eleanor Fairchild for singing my death poem over my corpse.

Dishonour stains the field
Bodies lie everywhere
Bacon on the wind

Also my brave troops who in the tradition of commanders from all time,
I have forgotten their names.

Damn, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to Pennsic this year.

Wanna try again next year?

Really sorry I missed this. Thursday was way over-scheduled and there was an obligation I had. Maybe next year I'll make it to this, and some of y'all can come with your perfect kits to Warriors of History so I'm not the only Jap. (hint hint)

Hi,

Maureen will be fighting next year (possibly our only chance to go to Pennsic in the near future) and her Samurai kit is that of an obsessed A&S person who lived in Japan. I love her, but she's crazy (she married me, that's proof).

Oh, and we've got a bunch of saki to give out.

Thats really cool Nissan
Is it just the mail that 'connects' the shino and tekko?

Theuy are not really attached at all. The leather gloves have a long cuff that tucks into the forarm pieces. the forarm pieces nest in the "socket" of the gauntlet cuff.

They are very flexible and comfortable and marginally safe.
