How do you pad bazubands?

For those of us who wish to talk about the many styles and facets of recreating Medieval armed combat.

Lucian, thanks for the great deal. By the way, did you ever use the elbow strap?

They are pretty, Lucian. Thanks! Did you pad the forearm? Did you ever get a bruise thru them?

They fit pretty snug. I think I will try them without those straps an make sure they stay on. With a demi or a full gauntlet on, I doubt they would fly off. Did you also use an elbow pad, or just the padding you had glued in?

Can anyone show a pic or make a description of how they used sheepskin to pad their bazubands?

Thanks!

I could put in some blue foam or maybe some shearling. I had never thought of that before. There are also forearm hexpads that I might try. Does anyone use these?

Those look sweet. But I can't afford them right now. The shearling seemed like a neat idea. (and I have some = free!) Perhaps I'll just lay into it and see what happens!

Same here... I have an overly complex assembly for my arms, but essentially it is almost a Franken-bazu. Steel elbow cop, laced onto a proper elbow pad... this is then connected to a thick leather vambrace, with ABS splints laced onto that. There is a lot of innate spring to the whole thing, but it's rigid enough for me. It also passes inspection every time.

Like Agnarr says, it also stings, but goes away. Padding it would make me look like Popeye.
If you were a poor Indian with no weapons, and a bunch of conquistadors came up to you and asked where the gold was, I don't think it would be a good idea to say, "I swallowed it. So sue me."

After my last padded gambeson wore out I used some of that for the forearm padding on my baz's then a bit of foam around the elbow.

Not pretty but then mine are hidden anyways.
