Queen’s Golden Jubilee Joust

Eleven of the world’s top jousters met during the August Bank Holiday weekend to compete for the most coveted Queen’s Golden Jubilee trophy.
Reigning champion, Dutchman Arne Koets failed to retain his title against stiff competition. Brit Steve Charlton, Royal Armouries Museum jouster, was crowned winner with a perfect score.
Tournament heats took place on Saturday and Sunday with the play-offs on Bank Holiday Monday culminating in a fantastic nail-biting final. In the end just one point separated Charlton and American jouster Jeffrey Hedgecock.
The chivalry prize was awarded to Dominic Sewell and Andrew Deane won the military skill at arms trophy.
As well as witnessing medieval jousting, visitors also saw a medieval pageant, knights on bikes, fire-eaters, a human statue, musicians and popular medieval jester Lord Flame.
