As a reminder, not bad most of your top picks were in the finial break down. Clearly Duke Mathias has that closing power he needed now.

Tourney winner
25-1 Herzog, Sir Mathias Von Leuwenburg- is a fantastic fighter, but since leaving Atenveldt just hasn't had the closing power that he had there. Maybe it will all come together for La Provadura. That would be cool to see.

"DA top pics for Prova this year"

Hi everyone, sorry this is so late. I am posting from a laptop, so this won't be as detailed as I would normally have hoped.

8-1 Duke, Sir Conor Weisszhan- without a doubt I think Conor is the best prepared to take this tourney. He is a dominating fighter. There look to be a few weaknesses in his defense, that I think a few of the foreign fighters like Edric or Eduard could take advantage of, but he looks great.

10-1 Sir Gemini, Rex Occidentalis- umm King of the West right now, and pretty cool dude all around. I think he has something to prove, and this is La Provadura.

12-1 Sultan Edric Khan, Crown of Caid- Edric is really good with a shield or with that madu thingy (yuck) that he likes to use. He is 6'5" and knows how to use his range to win. He has won 5 Caidan Crowns and is definitely in shape to be a force to contend with in this tournament. We will see how his Caidan ways match up against the Westies.

13-1 Sir Hauoc, Duke Bender- consistently finishes near the end of these top end tournaments. There is no reason to see why he would not do well in this one.

15-1 Ritter Brion, Landgraf von Bellatrix- Is fighting very well, btu seems to have issues closing Crown. Hopefully those issues will not arise here, and he will be able to win. Hopefully there will be a "but you are my father" joke along the way

18-1 Duke, Sir Fabian von Schwetzingen- A top level fighter. His movement is not as good as it once was, but he is still a spectacular fight, and like the others in this list does very well in top end tournies. I think we will see him in at least the quarters if not the semis or finals. I am not as sure about the win, though.

25-1 Herzog, Sir Mathias Von Leuwenburg- is a fantastic fighter, but since leaving Atenveldt just hasn't had the closing power that he had there. Maybe it will all come together for La Provadura. That would be cool to see.

33-1 Sir Paul, Duke of Bellatrix- umm not only does he have Paul of Bellatrix powers to call upon, but he does well in these tournies. I bet he will pull out some sort of new Boom Yow, and throw down some tight moves on these youngsters and kick some a$$.

40-1 Ritter Hans, Graf von Wolfholtz- did well in last Crown. I expect that he will be a force to contend with, although living out of Kingdoms has probably not helped his fighting level.

45-1 Sir Eduard, Krol Atenveldt- is doing very well in Atenveldt. I am unsure how he will match up in a Western tournament. I am very interested to see how he does.

55-1 Bahadur Freewind- my darkhorse choice, if this is who I think it is. I think this is Freewind, the dude with the tattoos. If so, he is crazy to watch, and is bada$$. I think the will certainly surprise some of the fighters, and end up doing quite well. He is DA's type of fighter! oh yeah except for that Madu...

60-1 Viscount Robert of Woodesende, KSCA Robert is solid, and we will see if he brings that to the field. That would be cool.

I am so sorry, I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy! I didn't mean to corrupt. I just showed a gateway to a better music, like ManoWar who rulz! You know how good they are, so you can't blame me. I saw them on your iPod list, and know your secret.

I'll be happy to help you with odds on your Crown, Your Dudeness. Show me the list!

Your friend, and eternal groupie (even if only out of fear of your crushing my skull with your mighty thumbs like Roy Batty did to Eldon Tyrell in Bladerunner),

DA

PS- O, BTW, your squire is just hanging having some pizza with me. He'll be back fighting tough (like the New Kids). I'll play Aces High by Iron Maiden and he will rise to your defense super fast!!! Anyway, you have much more to show him about fighting than I do, and you know, he is a fighter, not a lover like me ;) even though I ain't got a lady at the moment...

What, no An Tirians this time? Bo-ring.. :-)

Names I usually see in Crowns but don't see on this list.. Sir Brand, Sir Eyvandr, Duke Rolf, Sir Janos.

Fabe, Hauoc, Connor, Gemini? Any idea on them one way or another?

Jade is a pretty big wildcard there, Your Majesty! :-)

Your Majesty,

As much as I would love to take the field at Crown, I will be unable to. Megen's due date is right on top of Twelfth Night. I will not swear the oath during Invocation in light of this fact. I probably won't be let off the Dad leash until June.

I am looking forward to seeing Leif when he is finally done with school. He is going to explode on the West in a big way.

D- I think Fabe is taking this one off to let the knee continue to heal. He was fighting at Mists/Cynagua and plans to go to GWW. I am pretty sure Conor is taking a Man-at-Arms at Crown. I am unsure if he intends to fight.

So ….Sir Eyvandr has said he may never fight Crown or Cornet again due to his getting engaged and married. His lady dose not play SCA at that level.

Sir Brand is help up in the mountains working or maybe he joined a cult or something  . Brand normally fights for fun at least, but he is not planning on being there.

I have never gotten why people can not fight for fun and switch out to a great swords as needed. Or in all honesty fight to test the next King, knowing that they are not in all reality going to win. It is part of being a Knight to test unbelts in the list and test your next king. I get that this is only my view, people add so much intent to the invocation oath. I see lots of Knights drift away in part because they can not let them self do things, such at fight in crown.
You do not swear to win or that you want to win or that you will fight your best weapons. Crown should be a good time, along with choosing a king, not so serious that the good time is lost "Hobby". Well that is how I see it anyway, I love fighting in Crown though

This not directed at any one or meant to be negative. I just wish our fighters who could would fight more rather that just watching or Marshalling. I miss the days of 100 man crown list in the West. I feel this overly serious streak has cost us something.

Uther Rex

The Western Oath
You have all heard the conventions of combat for this tournament, and
you all know the Rules of the Lists. Do you swear to abide by these rules
and these conventions during these Lists?
Fighters: I so swear.
Herald: And do you each have one whose favor you shall bear in these Lists, and
who shall reign beside you should you be given victory over the field?
Fighters: I do.
Herald: And do you each swear that, should you be given victory in these Lists,
you and your consort will swear fealty to the Kingdom and populace of the
West. And do you swear that you and your consort can and will fulfill the
duties and obligations of a King or Queen of the West, and that you will
rule justly and to the utmost of your abilities, as long as you shall reign?
Fighters: I do.
Herald: Then upon pain of expulsion from these Lists, let none here present enter
these lists bearing any stone, charm, or herb of virtue, by which they hope
to gain advantage over their opponent. Let each of you prove by your skill
and strength alone the worth and virtue of those whose favors you bear,
either in victory or in honorable defeat.

Quick Clarification for yall... I agreed that I wouldn't fight competitively in a major tourney till after the wedding, and we would play it by ear after that. I had planned and did go out this weekend for crown, but due to some equipment failure, had to bow out that morning. Strong change I will throw down at coronet. I got me a brand new dane axe I am looking to try out.

We're all getting old :) Although some seem to get there a lot slower than others.

Does anybody have any video clips of the fights btw?
