looking for a picture of a odd weapon I saw a few years ago seams it was a chicken or harpy looking mace when I was doing armour/weapon inspections at pennsic.
but just to lighten things up what else do you all have for odd weapons.

Some friends and I were thinking of forming a "peasant levy" as an inside joke. We plan on covering our armor with ridiculous broad hats and stained rough spun clothes.
We would love to see if anyone has made simulated peasant imrpovised weaponry. Spades, pitchforks etc. Understandable the idea peasant weapon, the grain flail, is out, but other ideas would be cool. =)

That would be cool! Loose fitting tunics to hide your armor and floppy hats and overlarge hoods to reduce the obvious head protection helms. So much for field combat being a noble sport.

The Bill and Partisan (polearms) were originally farm implements used by peasants for harvesting fruit and pruning trees. They were modified to make them more effective for combat, but the origins remain.

Saw a dead cat mace once. Complete with X's for eyes and stiff legs. There is a photo floating around somethere for it

Let us not forget Owens (i think) list-legal shovel.

2.5gal flexible water-bag + 1 kazoo in a piece of siloflex + 3 slightly broomed rattan drones + some scrap plaid fabric = heavy combat bagpipes.
It was STUPID... but if I inflated it before going into combat (couldn't fit the siloflex mouthpiece into by bar-grill) I could annoy my opponent with kazoo noises. It died when I blocked a pair of hulk-hands and the kazoo and siloflex tube was ejected violently by the air pressure.
Some days you just gotta cut back and be silly.

not sure who it was, but I saw some pictures in a thread around here of a crusader with a crucifix for a pole arm

Brother Amos the Pious wields a great cross as a weapon (polearm). There are some pics of him at Pennsic with it.
It's super cool awesomeness, especially when he pops his top and you see his tonsure (monk cut hair style <- It's not male pattern baldness either. It's a proper shaving of the top of the head).

For the Martyrdom of St Hyrim I made a list legal 6' gold crucifix.
My fave was a 4' long cod fish complete with leather fins and "thrusting lips" that I made for a barroom brawl event.
Not dignified, but fun.

Absolutely.
