In keeping with the inspiring "Oldest First-Time King" thread, who was the oldest knighting in the SCA?
Not the oldest knight you know, of course, but the oldest age of one BEING knighted.

Meridies just knighted Maddock (sp?) at the ripe age of 57 at Gulf Wars this year. He fought 57 knights in a row by challenge. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

The aforementioned HRH Edward was knighted in '05. I'm still not sure of his exact age, but I'll place him over 50 when he was elevated and over 55 when he won his first crown, maybe even closer to 60.

Graedwyn, what you got?

I was chatting with a Knight from the West Kingdom that said he started fighting at 43 and got knighted at 52. Can't remember his name though.

That would be Sir Gerston Heah Leah. He is one of the great examples I point to when someone is suffering from what I call Self-Imposed Ageism.

Hey, hey, I am not that old.
I just turned 53 last week.
I was 48 when I was knighted.

Apparently, not only is Sir Maddog the oldest ever knighted, but he has a mystical ability to have no two people ever spell his name the same way

Maddach Macathol.

But standardized spelling is a post-SCA period convention.

Now don't get Mad Dog and Maddach mixed up :D I think Mad Dog might be older than Maddoch.
