Are Tuchux really evil?

Post by Wulfgar »

So I was talking to some friends about Pennsic and they were saying that you never go to the Tuchux camp even if your invited and especially not without Sir Greg accompanying you.

From everything else I have heard the Tuchux sound like a pretty cool bunch of guys and sound like they play a more casual game.

So are they really that bad that even if you have an invite you shouldn't go to their camp?

I'm fighting beside some of them this Saturday, I'll ask them.

I'm sure they are just like any other group, there are the cool ones, the kind ones, the just plain jerk ones and so on and so on.

My own experiences with the Tuchux have been quite positive. Some of whom I have the pleasure of calling friend.

Yes their culture is different from the SCA's but then again the SCA culture is different from Darghohir who is different from WMA which is different from the boy scouts.

Couple things to remember..

When entering Tuchux camp bring a gift.. Whiskey is a good call :D

Do not wear steel weapons in camp.

And yes the term "Dog" is not derogatory when speaking to a Tuchux.

As a rule they tend to be a very tight group.
Unless your invited its just not a good idea to head in.
If your invited keep close to people you know untill you get introduced around and feel comfortable. Being thought of as intruder in the camp is a bad thing.
That sead if you needed something like a few people to help geting your car out of the mud or someone to walk you home They would be the ones up that way to ask.
A few groups at pennsic are very open and invite just about everyone in. The tuchuxs are a litte more diserning that most.
But my experiance is a little limited when it comes to that group.

Tuchux are some of the best people I have ever met, on and off the field. There is alot of mistique, myth, urban legend, whatever about them and I'm sure they have no problem with the general populace feeding off that.

Respect them and they'll give you respect as well. Act like an ass and they'll surely call you on it. Don't be takin pictures like a tourist!!! They hate that LOL.

As far as thier women go.....soft as bunny fur and tough as nails and probably quick with a shot to the nads if ya don't keep your hands to yourself. They also got one of the best waterbearing teams on the field.

Yes, the Tuchux are the quintessential refinement of all that is evil, wicked, vile, nasty and dangerous. Lots of the dangerous part. Go there without an anointed guide and you will be tied to the Tree of Woe and left to be found after Pennsic is over.

They are guys that fight. (are there any female fighting tuchux?)
They have a camp with guards, chances are you won't get in unless you are invited.
Like any other family/household if you are invited you will probably treated in a welcoming manor. If you act the ass you will probably be dealt with.

Other than the whole eating babies, sacrificing virgins thing I imagine they are not far off from what the rest of the SCA is.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Yes. The shield wall this year seemed to include both sons and daughters of 'chux. In the woods battle at least.

I have found that the Tuchux have a very old school approach to hospitality .
I also dimly recall hearing that when given the honor of guarding a kingdom gate they figured that there were a lot more Tuchux at the Tuchux camp so it would be better protected if they moved it there so they did.
so if Evil = Good hosts that are mischivous with a good sense of humor then yes they are Evil.

I have never had a bad experience with -any- of the women with the Tuchux. Once as a marshal in a bridge battle, a clumsy Marklander opened a gash in my skull with a fiberglass spear. While blood was pumping out of the five inch gash on my head, it was Tuchux women that offered me water and cleansed the blood from my hands. One of them did swoon at the sight of so much blood, but quickly got over it.

As a marshal, I have had many experiences with Tuchux fighters. The reactions were always extreme, one way or the other. Honesty, candor, and firm stance is appreciated among the Tuchux above many other characteristics. Respect is their currency.

They're different. Sure. I do believe, however, that they make Pennsic and other events more rich for me.

I once saw a young squire eating some pringles walk up to a Tuchux.

he said "Hey Tuchux, bet you can't eat just one!"

The Tuchux then proceeded to eat all the chips, the tube and the squire in a single bite.

This is the rule with the Tuchux,

The Tuchux are about fighting.

The best place to deal with the Tuchux is on the field. If you want to know about the Tuchux, fight against them, and fight with them.

As for dropping by their camp, don't go unless invited, bring a bottle to give to whoever is guarding the gate, and be polite.

And bring a bag of beers, because even in the best of camps, the keg runs dry.

The Tuchux must be a nasty bunch - their reputation has carried all the way to Lochac... (not saying what that reputation as I dotn want to untarnish it!)

I dont know any of the Tuchux but I know some good men that have the same reputation... I call them mates...

by the way are there any Tuchux actually in Lochac?

Of course the Tuchux are Evil--but in an Awesome way, like Warhammer Chaos Warriors.

One of my favorite new friendships I've forged in the last year is with a Tuchux fellow who moved here. I can't wait until he gets back from the sandbox.

Nay, verily. :D

Kinetic energy = 1/2 * mass * velocity^2

Energy density = energy / volume
