For sale is a Black Hydra Kabuto made in '08.

The helmet can fit up to a 24.5" melon, there are carved brass plates on the sides as well as a carved brass tehen (hole on the head) It also has repousse eyebrows on the mabizashi ( the visor) The Fukigaeshi are also removeable (temple wings) The helmet is wonderful, I just need the money more than I need the helmet.

Helmet was bought for $1,200 ( I paid for all the bells and whistles) I am asking for $750 obo. Includes shipping. I will also throw in a customized Dou (cuirass) in sugake lacing with skirt plates for an additional $150.

The helmet has been lightly used, but the lacing needs to be replaced on the skirt plates. Here are the pictures:

Wow. Its stunning to see Mykaru's work up for sale. He's the penultimate Japanese helm constructer regularly doing work in the SCA. His lines are true and as close to the real thing as we can get.

I'm surprised this is still available.

yes, the kebiki would be an upcharge, if you wanted the whole suit that way, probably a considerate up charge (both because of labor and the amount of lacing...) but we can discuss terms if you want it.

And I'll be honest, I saw the dou (linked above) in person at Illiton's Rites of Spring and its dead sexy. Excellent quality and the attention to detail in the lacing is well done.

Just FYI I ordered dou parts from this guy back in October 2008 and have not received anything. After a while of waiting and PMs he said he would refund me the money i spent, but I have not been refunded yet either. So buyer beware.

its true i keep trying to raise funds to pay him back, the problem is nothing i have put up has sold yet( this helmet or the aforementioned dou). I had told him as soon as I could get the funds I would, but that has yet to happen... I'm sorry Adam.
