Suggestions for smoother transactions

Post by Maeryk »

Just things I have come to do or advise over the years:

Demand progress updates. Demand them _in writing_.

Do important conversation in email, but back it up with a certified letter.

DO NOT accept "oh, I didn't get your last 8 emails" or "my last 8 emails bounced" as an excuse. Provide two email addresses. Gmail is free, easy, and it works. Make sure every email is CC'd to a safe, archived address so you can reference it later. (Salamanders in work emails tend to eat stuff X days old, and you lose it unless you specifically archive it).

Before sending "final payment" I'll usually ask for a photo of the finished goods. That was I have at least a vague idea of whether I'm getting what I want, or a bag of assholes when the box arrives.

When handed the "I've tried to send it to you four times, and each time it's been returned" after three weeks of runaround, ask for a photo of the returned package.

Use certified/insured/trackable WHENEVER POSSIBLE.

I know, there are crappy vendors, there are crappy customers. This isn't attacking either side over the other. It works both ways.

Ive been reading some recent threads about bad transactions and it still floors me some of the excuses people give for not completing a sell.

Frankly, if you have time to post to the AA that something is for sale, then you have time to send the items when someone pays for them.

If you are busy going to school, getting married, having an operation, or whatever, then DONT POST THE FREAKIN' AD!

If Im buying something, Im paying for a product, not excuses.

If Im selling something, I expect to get paid, no excuses.

Just my opinion.
