What I got is not what I was promised. Fast would have been getting it within the 2-3 weeks promised. Good would have been taking a little more time and putting in solid welds and making good cuts. Based on the last helms pictured on here and how they look, this one looks like their ugly deformed cousin.

I'm also reviewing his customer service and delivery. Not just the helm...had I gotten this helm within the time promised I'd be noticeably less pissed.

Yup. Looks to me like someone's not terribly good at welding stainless.

But, it's a 100 dollar kettle. It looks like a 100 dollar kettle.

I'm not saying you didn't get taken. but I'm saying it's a 100 dollar kettle. In a lot of cases, you get what you pay for.

I would have been much happier with the mild had he told me his experience with Stainless was poorer. He "upgraded" me cause he was running low on Mild...you know after making three helms before mine (again conflicting with his previous messages about the queue) which no one actually purchased and/or were no good. Just look at the last ones he's been selling, but at least they look better. Just compare with what they should look like based on his Flickr catalog.

This just looks like a first attempt instead of an experienced and well-reviewed armourer.

It is indeed upsetting that the thegreatpavo was not happy with his helmet, but his attempts to make me look like the bad guy is even more upsetting.

I will try to keep my end short and sweet and will refrain from dragging this thread onward:

I went out of my way to help a guy get a helmet for an event a month before pennsic. Even though he was #5 on a list of 5 customers, I eventually bumped him up a bit to get his helmet done by the event -which I did! He was told that I sell munition grade helmets and that it has been several months since I was at full production and that the helmet would not be as nice as the ones on my flickr site, but would be solid, safe, and better then a cheap spuntop. I posted updates as usual here on the archive (directing him to those posts) and replied to his multiple weekly emails asking for an update (while complaining when I didn't reply within 5 minutes). I got the helmet to him before his event as promised and offered a refund when he told me he didn't like it. I even ended that PM with "tell me what you want me to do?"

I know my cheap munition grade helmets are not for everyone, but there is only so much I can do to resolve a situation. Very upsetting indeed.....

NOTE: I JUST LOOKED AT THE PICS AND WAS UNAWARE THAT I DID NOT CLEAN AND POLISH UP THE HELMET BEFORE SENDING IT! I DO APOLOGIZE FOR THAT. I HAD IT IN THE BOX AND MUST HAVE JUST TAPED IT UP THINKING IT WAS CLEANED AND POLISHED! I DO APOLOGIZE FOR THAT MISTAKE! I WAS IN A BIG HURRY TO GET IT TO HIM ON TIME.

I HAVE OFFERED A REPLACEMENT HELMET AFTER HIS EVENT DUE TO MY MISTAKE -ALONG WITH AN APOLOGY!

I will note I only mentioned I needed the helm by an event on August 6th, after the helm was completed to ensure it would get shipped in time.

The claim that I rushed him when the last message I sent him in regards to it being constructed was on Jul 28th with the sizing information. Before that I did not rush him at all, and can provide all the PMs we had to that point. Hjalmr you rushed through the helm without any pressure for construction or a date to have it made by. I just kept checking how it was going since I had not heard of you starting or finishing it and the issues you seemed to be having in regard to what you told me at week 2, week 3 and all the weeks thereafter.

Note: I never said it was not safe or not legal...I told you the issues I got in response from some of the marshals I showed it to who expressed concerns over the welds and it being potentially unsafe. They sent me to check it out with an experienced navy welder...who said they were really sloppy but should be fine for armored combat...same email I sent to you...same information. I was telling you the impressions I was getting when it was looked at. Aside from it looking as bad as it does. Which may just be related into it not getting cleaned up...but having it finished August 4th and shipped August 10th, there should have been plenty of time to have it cleaned up.

In addition a refund is not having to send it back then wait for you to resell it to get a refund. I told you what I wanted to happen but you don't seem to care. The point is I told you what I was seeing and then jumped down my throat about it as opposed to recommend solutions...like replacement.

I am willing to replace the helmet due to my not finishing it, but this is a flat out lie pavo! You even admitted to paying for priority mail so you would get it on time for the event. Come on now.....

If I wasn't being hassled to get it done, I might have noticed that I didn't finish it...

The issue is going to be fixed, Hjalmr and I have had difficulty communicating up to this point.

Thanks Hjalmr and I'm sorry as well, I didn't intend for this to turn this ugly, thank you for taking my concerns seriously.

Im sorry Hjalmr. I did not mean to harass you. Pavo should have gone to you before ruining your good name.
