For Sale: Gauntlets
Hello everyone,
I have two sets of gauntlets for sale. One is a pair of Mercenary Tailor 15th century finger gauntlets, with custom glove.
Second is a pair of high-end half gauntlets by someone whose name I can't remember.
Half Gauntlets I purchased for $350 and are based loosely on a pair in a painting from c.1489-1500. The straps are high grade vegetable tanned leather, and the metal is brought to a satin finish.
Price: $250
The second pair is by Mercenary Tailor http://www.merctailor.com/catalog/produ ... ucts_id=43 They were $450 +$60 for the custom gloves
Price: $435
Cheers,
Hadrian

Part of the problem may be the price vs. availability of other products. $200 for a pair of used half gaunts is about double what the going rate for new half gaunts cost around here.
The full gaunts are ok, but the micro lame fingers make them unsuitable for SCA combat, so your target audience is smaller.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Those are some very shapely demi-gauntlets. I do not see why someone would not pay $200 for them, and am not suprised that they sold. The price on the Merc Tailor gauntlets, on the other hand, may be a bit more of a challenge. The main issue is that they are so close to retail I think most individuals would pay the extra cash to get them directly from Mercenary Tailor. If you can't stand going much lower I'd suggest giving it a couple of weeks and then consider putting them up for trade, perhaps.
Good luck with the sales.

The first sale on the demi-gauntlets fell through, so they are back up for sale (apparently the guy hadn't spoken to his wife when he said he'd buy them)...
I will comment on the reason for the Merc. Tailor gauntlet price. It is close to the price of new ones, but these were $60 more than normal retail. Usually they come with just a barbecue glove liner, I had added a nice pair of gloves from http://leatherglovesonline.com/pages2/ml5a-g28.htm. I listed these two weeks after getting them, they just never fit right. In retrospect I probably could (and should) have just returned them. I do have a trade offer, but I would prefer cash...which is why I can't go any lower.
Cheers,
Hadrian
