In the market for a new norse helm

I am looking to get a new helm for SCA combat based off Norse/Viking era. Not sure if that is easy or not to do.

My core requirements:
1. Spagen style top
2. Oculars that do not require bars in them
3. All bars hidden by chain
4. Blued/blackened look, not shiny
5. Brass work based on bears
6. SCA combat legal

The closest I have seen to what I want is this picute I found on Knotwolf's site, but he is not taking orders. The top is not exactly what I am looking for (Req. 1)

I am looking for a quote and a timeline it will take to get one made. Please PM me with your quote.

Thank you for your time.

Knotwolf makes some great helms. If you found your dream helm there, I would not hesitate in ordering from Richard.

If you cannot get it from him, we can make a blackened helm with chainmail and custom brasswork for you.

I have one of his helms coming in (he ships tomorrow!!) I'll let you know what I think when I get it. So far communications have been stellar, and I have a feeling I'm gonna be a happy customer when we are done just based on how easy he has been to work with.

Richard still makes helms, but is making ones that he is inspired to make.
I've resigned myself to just waiting until I catch one that appeals to me. Having seen his work, I'd rather have one he was inspired to make, I think :).

I second this. I have an order placed with him right now. Very easy to work with.

I have a V6 ready to go which can be seen at:

It doesn't have the chain or bear theme but you could add those yourself easily. It is also darker in color than the photos portray.

If this one doesn't fit, could build one to your size.

Nice work, but not exactly what I am looking for. Thanks though.

What about one with a standard spagen top and no brass work? Also, it appears the nasal is over the front band where the one I have pictured is under. That seems to give it more of a mean look, which I prefer.

IM me if you would be interested in talking more about it. I have a few other bids I am reviewing right now and plan to make a decision by this weekend.

Thanks to all the armourers who listed here and sent me IM's. I decided on someone to make the helm and after it is completed, I will post a review of it. I am very excited about this as I put together a norse kit to fight in.

Now I just need a name, Hagar seemed taken :(

I suggest going with the old classic "Sven Ironheinie"
