I have a paid and pending transaction that has gone on now long enough. I have been told multiple times that the item in question was going to be shipped, and after roughly 4 months I have had it.

I contacted Paypal but its been so long that they are going to see about helping out. I thought that perhaps someone might know him and tell him that either I would like the payment back or the item.

I have sent numerous emails and private messages to no avail.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

I don't know him (not by name, anyway) but I know people who will know him.

He answered a classified ad and used the name Dieter.

So I put dberg51 into google, and came up with these profiles:

That gave me the names Dieter Berg and Dieter Gruber

I'm leaning towards Dieter Gruber pased on the pic in the wayn.com profile. He looks like sca. See the axe on the couch with him? That profile puts him in Victoria. Not sure how old the profile is.

Then I found this:

Using the name Dieter Gruber-Albracht The quote appears again. Seems like him. This is an old post though.

White pages Canada has a D Gruber in Vancouver at:

Of course, I have no idea if this is really him. But it might be worth a shot.

I was just going to contact his household members and have them give him a poke, but that works too...

Dieter Gruber known in the SCA as Godric is a household member of mine (or was he's been out of touch with us for a bit) I will see if I can track him down and help you out with this "transaction".

I have sent him messages with links to this thread via a couple networks that I know he uses.

He was active at the start of this summer, but we haven't heard from him in a while.

Hopefully he'll get the message(s) and finish this business properly.

Its not overly difficult. I've seen people take a screen name and within 30min have satelite imagery of that persons house along with home phone, partners work, parents phone and address etc.

There is a rediculous amount of info available on the net.

Google yourself and see what you get. Many places have options you can select to remove your information.

true, when i google myself (yes i have done it out of vanity a few times) i get my rank in the kingdom op (like 8,634,277) a link to my shire's web page, and an interview i did for a sci-fi e-zine years ago. i can see how it can be done, but it is still kind of scary to see it in action.
