Brigandine pre order sale!!!

Posted: Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:39 am
by Duke Icefalcon
Our newest product is a brigandine torso protection that is made of heavy duty cotton quilting with 18 gauge stainess (of course) plates sandwiched in between. This brig shirt comes fully strapped and ready to wear.

The final product is comfortable, protective and looks great. The best part of it all is that it will be affordable to most. This is a great starting armor as it is easy to wear and will last a long time. Our price on this item will be only $350.

BUT- If you participate in the pre order sale, we will discount this further to only $200 each!!! This is to ensure that this product gets out there and is well known to our clients. Mention this ad when ordering. These are only available in black and in size large- XL.

Howdy Your Grace. What is the absolute largest size these will fit? Those of us who are "statuesque" (and who have guys even more so!) need to know. Given the average fighting demographic, I suspect there may be several folks wondering.

The XL will fit a 60 inch chest. I suppose we could produce an XXL if there is enough interest. The price would be slightly higher. Get me 10 orders or XXL's and I will make them for $245 during the sale. Sound fair?

That's gorgeous. I've notified my squire and my household. Shoot, for that price I might even grab one for myself.

I think it would look nice with a sallet and plate legs.

How well does it protect the kidney area? Does it require anything else to make it full legal body protection? What is the max size of the Large?

Folks around here are wondering for what time/place(s) the brig would be appropriate...

This is a full shirt with plates in all parts from the upper arms to the lower back. It is fully legal. No other garment is necessary to make it list legal. The shirts have some adjustability as they have adjustment straps. You can tailor the fit with the straps.

Large - 42-44
XL 46-48
XXL 50-52

Brigs came around in the 14th century and were in use through the 16th century.

How hot does this coat get compared to one that may have been made from Linen instead (a big concern for those of us in Trimaris lol)

I am not sure. Cotton breathes. So it should not be bad if you are used to wearing an arming cote of some sort.

When is this first run of black ones supposed to be ready?

Cotton may still be a bit hot for us below the Mason-Dixon line. If you ever come out with a "hot weather" version in linen I'll definately grab one. It's gorgeous.

Although I wonder if it would be all that much worse than wearing a long sleeve black undershirt and steel breastplate. At least you can open up the brig during downtime.

Those are some very pretty brigs your grace but I am wondering how well they will hold up to combat. with large plates such as those wouldnt lots of movement want to tear out the rivets like any large plated brig. thats secured on all sides of the plates?

I am not trying to slam another armorer I am genuinly interested. Since Icefalcon is a duke he would know what combat for him would to this kind of armor.

So, HOW do we participate in the pre-order sale? Just tell you, on this thread, that we want in and what size? Or do we pay on your site for one?

I guess only time will tell. I have not tested them in battle yet. They ARE made of high quality materials and solidly constructed. I would not put my name on something I could not stand behind. I have had products in the past 20 years that have let me down but I always made it right with my customers. I am sure that this will work as well as any quilted brig out there.

I did not take it as a slam, Gunther. :) It was a good question.

Go ahead and order online. Mention the sale when you order and I will adjust the price on my end.

Cheers!

Howdy Your Grace. I dropped an order for the brig into your website tonight. Thanks for bringing out this product and thanks especially for the XXL sizing. While waistlines come and waistlines go (correlated with good Czech beer, as it turns out), the neanderthal shoulders are never going to go away, so this size is a real happy thing for me. :D
