Windrose Armoury Holiday Hours *and Announcement*

Post by Johannes »

If you are in the Phoenix area, we will be having holiday hours for the rest of the year. Our shop and warehouse is open from 10 am to 7 pm weekdays, and on Saturday from 11 to 3. We just got a fresh load of rattan in various sizes, including some heavy weight stock for shaved weapons, and still have all our regular items in stock.

In addition, we are running a sale on our huge selection of medieval books.

Added December 12:

The announcement is that after 12 years selling books at SCA events, we have decided to close that part of our operation so we can concentrate on other things. We will be selling our stock off over the coming months, and intend to be book free by the end of next year. This may come as a shock to many, but the current economy and some hard facts have made this a decision that needed to be made. I personally will miss them a great deal, but am looking forward to the possibilities this offers.

From what I've seen you're in the pro category, yourself. But we'd still love to have you in and show you around.

Our experience with online book sales has been pretty dismal, so they aren't listed anywhere. We just can't compete with Amazon and the other big retailers. We do have a large selection, if there is something you are looking for, we might have it.

Here is our front stock, with no more than 2 copies of a single title.

Hi Johannes,

You definitely make it tempting to make it there from the Tucson area. I was wondering, do you have a spreadsheet or anything showing the books you have in stock?

By the way are you guys going to be at Estrella? Were you able to get your tent from Southern Crusades repaired/replaced?

Come on up.

That tent was our small one, the big tent was happily not exposed to my any fire inducing moments. I am putting an Excell file up today, that way folks can see what we have.

The big announcement we have been delaying is that we are leaving the book business. After 12 years we have decided that we would like to change some things about how we do business and will be selling off our stock over the next months, and hope to be completely done with them by the end of next year. If we have it, now is a great time to buy it!

The Excel file is uploaded to our web site, it can be viewed by clicking here:

The first column is ISBN number so people can figure out the difference between books of the same title.

Does this mean I have to publish my own crapola from now on?

My Lady Wife has declare you to be 'ebils"! <evil>

She has told me that I *must* stay away from your book sale.

A very practical decision that I will be sad to see. I've spent hundreds of dollars on your books over the years at Pennsic. Mostly buying your finds in out of print and unusual. Part of the fun is not even knowing a book even exists let alone that "I must have it" untill finding it in your stacks. I am topped out in armour but I can never have enough reference material.

I understand it though. I sure would not want to carry around all those books. Lots of weight and money tied down in something that gets ruined if rained on.

I look forward to seeing your sale. If you are getting rid of any books regarding wheellocks please let me know.

I doubt I will ever be able to stop buying and selling the premium used things we find, but life as a bookstore won't be missed much, except for all the friends we've made doing it.
