One considers it strange that Karen, using Otto's PC, takes time to try and update people, but Otto, who presumably has access to the PC and must have a spare 5 minutes of an evening, does not communicate.
I know it may well be daunting to come online and give people the heads-up on what's happening, but it's not like it would be a face to face meeting.
One would have thought that common courtesy would demand an update from time to time.

Hi there. I haven't seen or heard of any work being done since I posted last. I'm at Scott's right now (trying to get my own internet back because I hate coming here). He's sitting on the couch watching George Lopez. I know what he is doing (or I should say lack of doing) is very irritating to people. I completely understand. He's been very irritating to me too. I stopped his having to pay child support last July or so then he had one less bill even though it's been hard on me income-wise. Sarah has a trombone payment each month and a cheap cell phone payment each month and he don't want to help with them either. I'm going to have to go Monday to see about getting it re-started because I need his payments. No guarantee that he'll pay that either though. I'll keep trying to see what he's doing as far as armouring. Maybe I'll be able to give some good news at some point.
Sorry for the complaining, just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone.

Hey Karen,
Is there a way I could retroactively send you my order.
At least that way my money would help pay for a trombone instead of nothing.

Does anyone have his email? I seem to have lost my last communication with him.

Raulin Arbor...silly question but what do you mean about retroactively order? Did you send Scott money already?
Scott's (Otto's) email address is
sbvast@yahoo.com.
My phone is supposed to be going on Tuesday. I'll post the phone number when I make sure it's working.

I hate getting ripped off so I filed a complaint with the internet fraud division of the FBI. If you want to file a complaint also here's the website:
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
Hopefully if enough people complain we can get something done.

You know this sucks I don't really want to take things to a legal level, I was just a newb wanting a good deal on some gear. Now I have the gear I need because of how long this process has taken and thought my shire could still use a couple of nice loaner helms. I understand if people want to take legal action but I would just rather have the gear than the hours of headaches from legal recourse.

Thank you for the link. I filled out a complaint tonight. I didn't know things like that existed. Hopefully we can all get our armour or money.

It sounds like depression.

This.
I deal with cyclical depression. Its a chemical thing, kinda like male PMS, but on a 3-4 month cycle. Been on drugs for it in the past, although I'm not having to take them currently.
When I'm in the depths, I've let things slide. Then I'd get depressed about letting them slide and feel guilty, so I wouldn't want to talk about it. Then I'd feel guilty about not talking about it.... and the vicious circle begins. I'd end up going into "hermit mode" and shutting the world out for months, to the detriment of my job, friends, and long-suffering spouse.
I'm not "fixed" but I've learned to recognize the symptoms and compensate. (Hermit mode usually only lasts a week or 2 now...

)
I'm not making excuses for this guy, as I've never met him. But I know the signs.

I have a similar situation only I am on a 18 month cycle. What makes me sad about all of this is that I know of 3 armour makers locally who gave up from not being able to compete with Otto's pricing on these orders, I know of 4 orders that I pursued around last June/July only to have them go to Otto based on price, 3 of those told me that they would go with the $20 Otto gorget instead of my $55 gorget, and even told me they never expected to get it, but that $20 was too good a deal to pass up and worth the risk of not ever getting it, alot of the posts in this thread are by those same people.

Depression, like Hell. Sounds to me more like laziness at the least, dishonesty and theft at the worst. I'm toying with filing a fraud complaint with the FBI as well, but I'm going to sleep on it for a couple of days.
But then, I'm a Texan. We think differently.

Just as an aside, you may want to look into what fraud actually means.
The short version is that he must have intentionally done it (by offering or withholding information or providing misleading info, etc.). I'll certainly admit that I could be wrong but it sounds like he tried to run a business and has fallen onto hard times.
Even if he did it to himself unintentionally, it's still a business. And it doesn't seem like he tried to rob anyone. Just a thought. Not that you shouldn't be mad, I'd be mad in your position too.
Maybe call and speak to your local FBI office, they may be able to tell you whether or not it's worth filing a fraud complaint.

I'm sorry he might be ill, I'm sorry I lost the purchase price, in point of fact I'm sorry for a great number of woes that beset people in this world but I also know that he's has spent other people's money and it sounds like he's watching T.V.

Couldn't agree with you any more. I'm only suggesting that people find out if it's appropriate before getting on the FBI's books as someone who attempts inappropriate legal recourse.
Again, I'm not saying it's right or wrong, and maybe I'm a paranoid freak, but I don't like being on the FBI's books for anything if I can avoid it.

I'm going to try and see if I can get his address and send him a letter since emails don't seem to have worked. Maybe if he knows that people are starting to think about legal action it might light a fire under him.

Hello people. I just read the latest postings on here and thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth. Not to be mean or anything, just matter-of -fact.
Scott was dealing with some depression but has been on medicine for several months for it. It seems from what I have seen of how he acts is that everything is okay and he's feeling good but at the same time he can get real depressed (okay, le me re-phrase that to pretend to be). I know it sounds mean, especially because I'm his ex-wife but I went through the same kind of acting with my mother. How he acts is kinda what's convenient at the time.
I'm not saying do or don't fill out reports, I wouldn't blame anyone if they did. He does need a lot of nudging (or a bit hit upside the head). I just wanted to explain his bits of "depression" a little bit. I'm NOT saying this is how anyone is that is depressed, it's just how Scott is.
Raulin Arbor....what did you order, and how much was it for? What type of items are you looking for from me?

I don't think Raulin wanted anything... he was just saying that he would rather his money had gone to the kid's trombone fund than to Scott.

ya know ive waited patiently for the helmet i ordered and i realize that its probably not going to show up. It tears me up cause i got a new guy all excited about it and fronted the money for the helm cause i want him to have some kick ass armor.
Still we wait.
And i dont expect to ever see it.
Karen, can you get his patterns and post them?
I really wanted a great helm based on his pattern. I think it would be a nice addition to the archive's patterns.

Let's not ask Karen to do anything illegal, hmm? No matter how morally justified you might feel, she would be the one he'd sue for damages.

in my opinion no matter how you slice it this is criminal , he's taking peoples hard earned money for the promise of an item. depression or not it seems like the only way to budge him from the TV is legal action to make it right for everyone who has money and time lost in this.

He's been on the forum long enough that I'm sure he knows what's being said right about now. I'm just glad I resisted the urge to go in on the sale. It seemed a little too good to be true as it was going.
I've wrestled with depression too. It sucks, but it doesn't excuse his actions. If he was pushing out even an item or two a month, then I'd say people should be patient, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

There's actually a questionaire you have to answer to make sure that it qualifies as fraud.
I doubt Scott intended to defraud people. However, if you offer goods or services over the internet and receive money without providing the goods or services then that does qualify as fraud.
His website being down doesn't do a lot to change my mind either.

Hi all...
no I don't spend much of any time here anymore as I haven't had glowing good news to report.
Yup, I've run insanely slow and I've explained my problems, not that those really matter... you paid for armour and you'll all get your orders. If some of you have filed complaints I can't blame you.
I noted that my dear ex has chimed in... I'm gonna leave that strictly alone.
I could go on about some of the difficulties that beset me just now, but that'd serve no purpose at all.
I just finished a helm re-make for Buck Marchington today and it's going in tomorrow's mail.
Over the next couple days I'm finishing a helm for Christopher Light, then finishing Thorgim's order which has already been started and hopefully finishing MXBNW's order before the weekend is out.
I may or may not check back on this thread. When I get to down, I don't work... and this crap gets me down. The only way I can correct the situation is to work and the best way to do that is to just plug along and not get mentally tied up in the negativity.
It is my intention to have all the orders cleared by the end of April and from then on to do almost strictly "already done" sales at events... that way, I can never get in trouble like this again.

Otto may be best if you NOT mention any dates you are aiming for. Considering you already said in this thread that Thorgrims helm woul dbe done months ago.
Best of luck, hope you start feeling and doing better. Especially hope I et my helm and gorget. The lack of delivery had put some maritial stress on me, but I think she has mostly forgotten about the non delivery

Nut up or shut up.
Saying you don't check the thread in one sentence and then saying you don't work when your down, and this stuff gets you down, in the next.
Oh woe is me... I'm gonna watch tv instead of fulfilling my obligations... cause I'm all sad.
Its fairly obvious that I've either never been "clinically depressed" or that I'm simply not a "whiny ass bitch".
Jesus.
Get off your ass, and make armour.

Mr. Broadway...you obviously have no notion of what clinical depression is or the effects it has on a person. Your comments are offensive to me and, I imagine to anyone else dealing with this problem.
