Saying you don't check the thread in one sentence and then saying you don't work when your down, and this stuff gets you down, in the next.

Oh woe is me... I'm gonna watch tv instead of fulfilling my obligations... cause I'm all sad.

Its fairly obvious that I've either never been "clinically depressed" or that I'm simply not a "whiny ass bitch".

Jesus.

Get off your ass, and make armour.

Offensive or not, reality is reality. You have created your own self fulfilling prophesy Otto. Now you are using another excuse to explain not meeting your obligations instead of doing what you know you need to do.

This list and others created to find out what you have done with peoples money have been highly supportive of you. For months on end the people of the AA have been supportive and tolerant of your situation. You have repaid them with one excuse and lie after another.

Is there any wonder after so many months our sympathies have worn thin?

You may be offended by Broadway's comments but I am offended and disgusted by your obvious lack of respect for your customers and continued disrespect for all those members who have stood up for you and supported you during this whole situation. Not only have you destroyed your reputation you have made them look bad for speaking up for your character.

So, to echo Broadway, no more excuses Otto. "Nut up or shut up." Get your work done and at least make some attempt to regain your reputation.

Otto,

Thanks for the update on your armoring situation. I apologize for bombarding you with emails a few weeks after I had sent you payment for my order - I had no idea that you had so many pieces of armor to work on, or that you've been dealing with clinical depression. I've directly witnessed the effects of depression, and it's a horrible thing to deal with. I hope things improve for you in that department.

Regardless, if you could post some sort of comprehensive list of armoring projects you're currently tackling (as well as those which you have yet to begin), I'm sure that the drama level on this thread would cool down a bit.

I'm just looking for some updates here - that's all. I'll gladly wait for my order, so long as I have your guarantee that it will eventually be completed and shipped. Thanks for your time & effort.

Otto,

The hardest part of winning over depression is determining that you will fight and win against depression. It's all in your mind, in a way.

Exercise helps a LOT BTW. So does winning. Set yourself a basic schedule for armouring and win every battle against every rivet and get back in the game.

And get as much sunlight on your bare skin as possible. I know it's cold, but maybe some streaking would be good exercise and combat winter depression. Everyone else might depressed after seeing you streaking, but you might feel better.

Note:I have nothing on order.
I too suffer from depression and I grant you it makes it a LOT harder to get rolling, especially when you have a big load of crap to deal with once you do get out of the rack. while I sympathize (I really do), the obligations that were taken on were not forced on you by these customers. You chose to have a sale with unbeatable prices and no limits on the amount of work you accepted. this took work away from other struggling forges, some of which have shut down. So I don't think you even have the option of "shutting up".
so for the customers, for the forges this sale killed, for the right of it...
you must nut up and get busy. Hell, do you have some friends around that could throw you some labor?
just rambling. hope this all gets worked out.
:(

Lets not make this a major battle. Broadway's comments were not very politely worded, but I understand his points. Right now many of the people who have outstanding orders are feeling the same way. A full list of all orders would be very helpful.

Otto, I am sending you an email regarding my address and my order. A response within the next few days would be greatly appreciated.

DeCalmont, I sent you an e-mail.

First off, I'm full well aware that many folks are quite rightly pissed with me. I offer no excuse. I know I took orders and have yet to fill them.

I've sent out two helms so far this month and hope to send out two more before the month is over. I'm moving this along as quickly as I can, now that I'm working regularly again.

I can't allow myself to play here on the archive and get sucked into all the negativity which is my just dessert right now, as too much of that and I'll stop working again, which helps no one.

So if you want to contact me, go with normal e-mail. Personal messages here on the archive likely won't even be seen.

Oh, ps... for those of you worried that my website is down... I didn't see how taking more orders would improve the situation, so I've left it down. I may or may not bring the site back once the old orders are cleared.

Otto wrote:Mr. Broadway...you obviously have no notion of what clinical depression is or the effects it has on a person. Your comments are offensive to me and, I imagine to anyone else dealing with this problem.

I do. Are you getting help?

I've had prozac for the past 5 years or something... just enough to take the edge off.

No, I've never gotten any real help with it. I'm too wealthy to get free help and too poor to pay for it myself... so... I take my meds, try to stay cheerful, and try to do the things I need to do.

Now that my life is halfway stable again, things are looking up a bit. I hope it stays that way.

It looks like activity is peaking at about 2-4 helmets a month. I put an order in August for:

3 helms
5 pauldrons
3 elbow cops
3 gorgets

Since I'm not on the list of 11 people before me, can I safely assume that I am going to wait 3 months before you start my order? If so, are you offering refunds?

Well, I ordered on 7-21 and I'm not on the "list of 11." So, now you know why we all want a comprehensive list. How many people did this guy scam?

Otto,

It looks like what many of your customers want at this point is just to be aknowledged. It sounds like many of them feel like they've thrown thier money down a hole and have no way of knowing if they're even on a list. Let them know you haven't forgotten them, they're on the list and that you're working towards it. People would probably quiet down (at least a little) if you could just post a list of all the orders waiting.

The archive crew is a pretty forgiving lot. (Yes, I'm new as a poster, but I've been lurking for years. ) People tend to get frustrated and upset when they have no idea what's going on. At this point everyone and his brother knows that you have a fairly hefty backlog and that you're not going to get it all done over night. I would also think that those watching this thread long enough would probably know that refunds aren't an option for you.

Just aknowledge your customers in a list. Get it done as you can. Don't give dates, as unfortunately you've had issues coming through on them. You're not going to make everyone happy overnight, but I think that getting past what's happened over the past few months and doing the right thing now will come a long way for some folks.

Respectfully,
D~

I paid the full (not sale) price of $325 on Sept 15 for one helm.
I hope Otto gets to it soon.

I ordered during that Fateful Sale a set of Spaulders and a set of simple elbow cops, on Sept. 6, 2009.

Now I feel REALY glad I went with Hjalmr rather than otto.

You know all those depression drugs lead to cancer and complications. My mom died last year and she was stuck on that crud for 30 years. I always found if im depressed and someone give me money things get alot easier....

I see he posted another thread trying to sell stuff so he can build more armor and get the back order completed.

Sent me Emails off but still nothing in the last month. :x :x :x

Sorry, I don't come back here too often... perhaps I will again when this is all cleared away.

MXBNW, I'm on your order right now and hope to have it done and ready to send before the weekend is out. (I said hope, not guarantee)

I'd throw dates out there for everyone, but we know I'm bad at that and it's an exercise in futility. I work on armour every day. I sent out a helm today, I'm sending one tomorrow, and I'm moving along as quickly as I can.

The other thread with me selling some things is so that I can still pay to ship items out.
