Help!! XMAS Emergency!!!! Mongol Helm Needed ASAP!!!

Post by Cillene mac Conghalaigh »

Help! Help! Help!
Have a bit of an emergency here. My squire brothers daughter wanted to give her father a shiny new Mongolian themed, SCA legal helm for Xmas. She asked me to recommend a merchant to her so I pointed her to Knotwolf. Unfortunately he has decided not to take on the commission to instead focus on his in-stock helms. This has left her high and dry and I feel partly responsible. Money is not an issue I just need to find her an armourer who can produce a very nice, high quality Mongolian helm similar to the one pictured below by Xmas! A tall order I know but this is important to her. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You mean like measurements taken, armoring done, delivered, wrapped and under the tree by this Christmas?

That would be the ultimate hope but even the order paid for and work begun and able to arrive at least some time in early January would be good. The point being that this was planned around Thanksgiving and now she is left without. She just left the Army and has worked very hard to get to a point where she is on her own and doing very well and can afford to surprise her father with a gift like this and now finds herself unable to. I have to step in as a close family friend and shield brother and see what I can do.

Jackie at Shamrock could do the helmet I'm sure, however I doubt anyone short of someone with it in stock could have it for Christmas

Planned since thanksgiving? How is it that it has dragged this long?

Time-wise, you may be out of luck, but Windrose and Icefalcon are both excellent and will likely do the custom project.

A friend has been waiting 9 months for a custom helm from Icefalcon and based on his queue position it may be another 9 months before Icefalcon delivers it. Though it looks like getting a helm via his in-stock page may be faster since he has 15+ there even though his custom orders take him forever to complete.

So time-wise Ice may not be his best choice... but he is still excellent and I think everyone is confident that your friend will get his helm.

Oh, and Luther/Brent at Anshelm Arms also does wonderful work.

We could not have it in time for Christmas but we can certainly do a spiff Mongol helm.
