Red 14th century style belt - SOLD.
Here is a red belt with a plain round solid brass buckle and solid brass "dumbbell" style belt mounts which have been mounted every two inches.
The dye is still drying but I will give it several additional coats to drive any pinkiness out of it.
Total length is 61".
I can't mount the rest of the hardware until I get a waist measurement.
$100

I wish the SCA didn't use red belts for squires.
That would look awesome with my kit.

Red belts may be used by squires, but anybody can wear a red belt. I mean, most knights won't do it but if you ain't a knight it shouldn't be an issue. there is a difference between hardcore rules and social traditions.

I'm with you on this one. A few years ago I wore a brown belt with a slight red tint to it and kept on getting called out for Belted fights and such. It became a pain in the butt to explain I wasn't belted that I'm just a simple grunt.
My problem also is that both my heraldic colours are both Chiv colours. Red and White...
Ouch.

Hehe I know the feeling. Red's my color of choice.
Word. I happened to wear an orange scarf around my waist for a belt shortly after I started fighting, and everyone kept asking me who I had squired to, and that I had squired out too early. I ended up taking off the scarf, haven't worn it since.
This is a lovely belt, love the hardware.

Neat story about a red belt:
Sir Wilhelm Zweikopfig Falke took a new squire, Jacob, at a local war, but did not have a red belt for his new man. He told him that he would travel to Pennsic War and procure a belt for him and would find someone to give it some history.
Fast forward a few months to the first week of Pennsic. Sir Wilhelm had gotten a new red belt for Jacob, and declared that now he had to find a squire to wear it to give it some history. I told him, "I'll be your squire for a day" to which he replied, "No, no, that wouldn't be right."
About 20-30 minutes later, Sir Wilhelm came up to me and said, "You know, maybe that's not such a bad idea after all."
The result: Every knight in the West Kingdom camp at Pennsic wore Jacob's new belt for a battle, including King Alden. In addition, I believe all of the unbelted fighters also wore the belt for a battle. Everyone who wore that belt later wrote a few words of advice and their name upon it. Jacob was quite honored that so many people offered to help give his new belt some history, and has been tracking each one down to hear the tale of the deeds they did while wearing his belt.
I wore it during the river battle, where we were posted at one of the fords. This was one of the spots where knights could walk on water (having horses) and the unbelts had to crawl. I quite merrily walked out on the water wearing that red belt over my white belt. When someone hassled me, I told him "I have earned the right to wear any color belt I choose."
(only the white belt is restricted per Corpora)
One of our unbelts was a man-at-arms to a knight, and did not want anyone to think that that relationship had changed by him wearing a squire's belt. I pointed out to him that it was merely a *red* belt, and that it would not be a squire's belt until Sir Wilhelm presented it to his squire.
I think he wore it as a baldric.
BTW: Nice job on the belt.
