Post by knightx84 »

Hello,
I'm looking into getting my second set of armour and I was wondering if anyone knows a place that has Roman General Helms or roman armour for sale?

Although they are not inexpensive, the Roman helms offered by Knotwulf will take your breath away. And honestly, if anything, the prices are low for this level of craftsmanship...

Here's a link to the index for two categories of Roman helms from Knotwulf.

What period Roman? Remember that the term applies to over a millenium and styles changed DRASTICALLY over that time.

Roman officer helm- for 1st and 2nd Cent AD that would be an Attic style helm ( the type worn by the Praetorians also)

These helms could get elaborate

(note, The actual helm depicted on the statue would have had full cheek plates. When carving statues the cheek plates were reduced so you could see the face of the soldier,)

Here is a late period (late 3rd early 4th cent.) officers helm.

and another

The point is what one person thinks is the nicest type of armor another person does not.
