Wow...

Ordered a stick of the 1 1/4 flated on 5/5 it shows up today 5/10.

I use 1 1/2 ish sticks. When my Lovely lady saw the stick she just laughed,No-one is going to let you hit them with that( :? which changes what?).
This stick is a beast, yet feels just a touch heaveir in the hand than what I use already. This without a proper shaped handle (yet).

I think I'm going to like this a lot.

You may well find even less difference in weight & balance after you hilt it. But you will need to pay attention to your blow force, since there is less flex in the rattan, a little more force is imparted to your opponent.

Yes,I don't think there will be any real weight/balance diff at all once the sword is finished.

As for shot force,I tend to be a little light at our current levels (still good just a little light),bottom to mid good should become mid good to perfect.I will keep an eye on it though.

On the other side, there is almost no such thing as 'a little flat'. If your edge hits a little bit (like 10-15 degrees) off from true, it will have a tendency to roll the rest of the way to completely flat. Blade orientation is a LOT more important.

Do you have any 48" blanks in stock?
I want to make a bastard sword and did not see them listed on the website.
If so what is the price?
What would S&H to 38002 be?

Thank You,
Amalric

I bought a 72" length of this at AE War Practice. I cannot WAIT to make a pole-axe out of it. The thing's going to hit like a truck. In the hands of someone who actually had a clue what he's doing, it'd hit like a nuclear explosion.

For anyone who's never dealt with Baron Eirik before, worry not - the man is out-freakin-standing. :D Top marks, that man!

I'm getting more big rattan in today and taking some out for planing. I'll be sure to get a couple 48" blanks made. It will probably be Tuesday night when I get them back, I'll list'em then. I try to take things down when I'm out of stock of an item.

Well, the introductory price isn't available any more (once I actually did the math I had to take the price up, sorry), but I have some in stock.

About $14. Both UPS and USPS seem prejudiced against long, skinny packages.

here's an odd question, do you have any rattan in the 6'-7 1/2' length range that are octagon in shape?

Not currently. But I've talked about it with the guy doing the planing.

Have you done a thread on your rattan wasters? Saw them at Border Raids and thought them quite pimp.
