Heh, chatted about these with my wife (and about how cool this was going to be for fighting, in the future), so we got home from an event this weekend and I showed her pictures. Her response:
"So, why haven't you ordered one yet?"
"They're $50," I replied.
"So order one as a present from your wife who's proud of you."
One ordered. Can hardly wait to get it in and start practicing!

I'll talk with Thomas. What dimensions would you like?
I have time to do a single custom order between now and Pennsic. Email the specifics to Eirik. He knows enough about what is involved that I trust him to get the appropriate size wood (and hardware, if necessary) to me, charge an approprite price for what you want done, handle down payments, etc.
Sorry, I was away. Seeing as how I will not have time to complete the weapons before Pennsic, there is no reason for me to force you to rush an order in that time frame. I can place an order in the fall and/or I will talk with Barron Eirik while at war. Maybe someone else wants to squeeze in a special order.
Fall will work, with a little planning. I was sold out of the big sticks after Pennsic last year, and that is what gets used for the wasters.
However, when we talk at Pennsic, you could choose the piece of rattan then and I'll cut it, set it back with your name on it, and get it to Thomas with the dimensions.

I just dropped off several more swords to Baron Eirik yesterday. These swords were all less than 42" overall length and varied in several details. For example, two of them didn't have a linear taper, so I was able to keep skin on the striking surfaces, one had a slightly curved blade, etc.
He is already starting to pack stuff for Pennsic and is already talking about when he is going to take down the web site. I don't think Baron Eirik is going to take any pictures of his latest batch, but I did want to let people know they are out there.

I'll try to get some pics up. But no guarantees. Between a software workshop at work last week, Simple Day next weekend, and the normal stuff of Real Life I'm getting pressed for time.
Still owe Leo a pic of the short waster .... It's 26 inches, I took the pic. Now to get it loaded .....
Everybody save Eirik some work and just go to Simple Day to see the "one off" swords for yourselves.

Warn me prior. Eirik lives near Indianapolis, and I rarely hold onto pieces down in Dun Abhon/Barony of the Flame/Louisville after I am done working on them.

The sword looks great. Really looks like a sword. Now I have to decide if I want it to be my new bastard sword, or slice it down a little bit to be my new one handed sword... Decisions, decisions!
How much are those short ones going to run? Maybe I need one of each!

Since I have a few now, I need to put them up separate on the web store. I'm putting them at $45. The difference in material cost is minor, but the work in them is almost the same as the longer wasters.

Buy another one *and* a short sword so that you will truely have one of each.

These will be at Pennsic, my booth will back by the Postern Gate again this year at the north end of the Serengeti merchant area.
Looking at the schedule, I'll take online orders up until Thursday afternoon. But sometime after 3pm, I'll take the site down for the duration since everything will be loaded in the trailer by that evening and the trailer hitched up to the truck. Friday after work, I'll be grabbing a quick dinner, And Master Jamie (of By My Hand) and Phillippe (my shop help this year) will be pulling out.
I'm curious what those at Pennsic with internet access who have handled them think.

Baron Eirik is back from Pennsic and the site is back up.

I'll post pics of mine soon as I can...still in the "unloading" phase of Pennsic recovery!
Bought it before Pennsic, shortened blade and grip, added Windrose fittings, and leather wrapped the grip. I used the sword in the Hastings battle, where it served quite well.

They are amazing. Persona kept me from grabbing a long blade. Do you do any custom work. Willing to pay a bit extra of course.

As a matter of fact, Eirik just handed me some rattan today with the expectation that I use it to create some new designs. The short swords I made for him sold out.
PM me details about what you have in mind. Please get more detailed than just "a viking sword". Oakshott's XVA sword type has blades of various lengths. My 15A design has a 30" blade mainly because I personally prefer that length. I can obviously make longer or shorter.

If anyone knows Euric Germanicus, could they give him a nudge? Neither Eirik nor I have any contact info for him outside of this forum.

Gunthar wrote:Do you have any left in bastard sword/greatsword size? I'm interested in buying a couple.
If you consider 42" overall length - with a 30" blade and a 12" handle - to be bastard sword size, all of the ones Eirik has on hand are bastard sword size (with the exception of a single sword with a slightly shorter handle because the end of the rattan was cracked, and some other custom orders).
