PartsandTechnical's NEW Historical: feastware, lighting....

Post by PartsAndTechnical »

Hi Folks

First off, Drew gives salutations to all his archive friends.

Its been a few months since we were around. We have been busy gearing up in about three separate directions, one of which is an offshoot of Drew's passion for antiques and such, wherein he been assisting with estate sales and often comes across really cool stuff. We have collected a nice assortment of pieces from antique axes to rare Japanese folding prints to lighting and feast ware. SCA and living history members get 5% off feastware.

Much more here....

That axe is just what I need, but several hundred $ out of my price range, alas.

The one Drew forged. I'm not complaining about the price, because I make things myself and believe in paying craftsmen what their work deserves. I'm complaining about my shortage of hobby money  .

Out of curiosity, can you provide documentation that your antiques are ethically sourced?

Hello talaananthes, sure, everything is ethically sourced insofar as we know when acquiring it. Beyond 2 or 3 hands back, few antiques can be traced. A few episodes of Antique Road Show often bear that out. On occasion, I knew Drew has literally found things in dumps of all places. He and his father once found a 18th or 19th century Russian coffer discared, being used for storing lawn clippings...compost!

What kind of documentation do you have in mind? A great majority of antiques floating around on the private market these days are almost entirely untraceable, as Andrew has mentioned. You can purchase expensive items such as illuminated pages from 13th manuscripts all the way down to Roman coins on public sites such as Ebay, and the verification of their authenticity is seldom noteworthy. Analysis lies with the potential buyer and as far as I'm aware, Andrew is a keen buyer. He also does not deal with public sites like Ebay much except through reputable sellers, as far as I'm aware. Now, does he know whether the shit he's got was stolen 100 years ago, or even 1 year ago? Perhaps not, but who does... I chat with Andrew a lot and he's a man of good moral standing and has a very astute sense of respect and responsibility. I'd be glad to buy any of his antiques that caught my fancy and fit my pocket book.

Alric -If there is one thing I know about Drew, it is that he always work with a customer in setting up affordable payments so neither party is inconvenienced. Drew once sold a 4k piece of furniture and allowed the client to pay 65 dollars a month so Im pretty sure he will work with you.
