I have a warhammer with a long spike on the back called a "bec de corbin" (Crow's beak). Mine is a one hand weapon (about 22" long). I made the head out of a solid piece of rubber.
I like it a lot. Tip heavy so it's pretty slow, but you don't need much mechanics to get a telling blow. It's a mass weapon so shots to the shoulder and hip are fight ending. I use the spikey side. The big flat side is just for looks but it still needs to be padded per the marshals.
