Review: Grettir the Slow

In April '09 I purchased a pair of gauntlets from Grettir with a custom fit. Due to an injury I was unable to complete the custom fit for the right hand gauntlet at that time. The gauntlets performed as expected with the exception of the right gauntlet, as it seemed a trifle narrow. This would result in sporadic contact with an articulation rivet and plate edge. This was mostly covered by my use of moleskin, as I rarely had time to get in contact with Grettir, much less travel to his shop to have them reworked. At Pennsic 39, I happened to take a shot from a great sword crosshilt that resulted in a minor fracture of a finger. I mentioned this to Grettir, at Pennsic, and he immediately offered to do the modifications necessary at Pennsic. I however, got distracted by bottles of various adult beverages etc and never made it down to his camp. I did however get in contact with him recently and I made time to head to his shop. As always, very hospitable, excellent work and modifications done. Nearly a year and a half after the initial purchase. I wanted to take the time to reinforce his excellent customer service. Especially since I wandered down the road to put the gauntlets in action at the nearest local practice.
They fit better than ever and was happy to see the recent shine was easily removed by duct tape/rattan scuffs that I never even felt the contact on. (BTW, thank you BMDL for an entertaining practice even with the rain)
5's across the board.
Oh and he showed me the spring style gauntlets he's working on...I couldn't believe how light they were. I seriously suspect the only reason I had any sense of weight at all was due to the nuts/bolts being used to test fit the articulation.
