sewing help - any one got some skills for cheap?

Post by Adric13 »

OK - i have tried to do this a couple times now but folks keep flaking out on me. I am looking to have a couple things made and my time and skilz are lacking. they will be used as patterns so the dufus at the factory can figure out how to make it right cause the last few attempts to do this off pictures and measures have been messed up. they are just not famillar with medieval styling and this for some reason makes folks stupid.

and when i say cheap i mean the cuts need to be right but its a sample - fabric can be clearance crap. edges can be half finished etc. all that part can be cleaned up on their end.

These will be used as a pattern to mass produce stuff. shoot me a PM and we can work out payments and what not if interested.

Im looking for one of these -

the embroydery is already patterened and i have a sample here already but it needs the proper clothing item to be embroydered. so this is JUST the base tunic.

AND one of these -

looking to drop the drawstring at the neck but copy it otherwise.

we can work out details moving forward.

Send a PM to Lydushka (Lydia Fithian) here on the Archive, she's an excellent seamstress and has made that exact Salerno Tunica before.

You can see a picture on her Flickr stream

She's amazingly friendly and her stuff his top notch. Once I get the fabric washed, she'll be doing some sewing for me.

I second Tancred, I have a gambison, brigandine shell and hose by Lyds with another different style of gambison on its way and she is very friendly and her garb is frankly superb.

Search her name or search my prior posts i did a couple of reviews a while back.

Looking through those pictures, I want a gambeson now. Does she have a business or website, or just pick up orders from/for friends?

Milord Tancred,

Buy a gambison from Milady Lydushka. You will absolutely not regret your purchase in any way shape or form.

Mine fits like a glove and is an absolute pleasure to move in. It is well made following historical patterns but have anachronistic leather attachments for your points but they work very well indeed.

This is Lady Lydushka's website-

But please do not hesitate to ask me any questions that you may have as I can not sing Lady Lydushka's praises highly enough.

For those of you who've worked with Lydushka before, what's her turn around time, in your experience?

Her turnaround time is totally dependant on what you want and how detailed and accurate your information is....

But it took about five weeks if my memory is not totally shot) from the initial order to when i took delivery in Western Australia...

IMHO not a bad timeframe!

I love that first tunic. I'll definitely have to pick one up when you start production.

Anyone got a picture of the second? I can't quite get a mental picture of it.
