I really like this knife. If no one buys it soon, I might have to. I'm looking for evidence of it as a historical style, which I haven't seen directly yet. I know you said 16th century, which might make it either too early or too late for the periods I tend to represent.

But I just like the knife. It reminds me of Leckushner's messers, just not grosse.

I also don't know what I would ever use it for. I couldn't carry it at school demos or while training/bouting, or in most of circumstances under which I find myself in historical costume.

Wade Allen has several extant knives in his collection with a similar blade shape ranging from the 14th-16th centuries.

Thanks all!

This piece is sold, but I have another in the same blade type on the workbench right now. It doesn't have the wood mounted to it so if someone is interested I can customize it a bit.

@Rob the Stout - The blade length is 5 1/2 inches with the full knife being 9 1/2 inches.

I am both disappointed and relieved that you sold that one!

Except, of course, that you can make more.

How much would you want for one just like it, but with a tang plate like this one? I also like the stamped pattern around the rivets, which I could do myself, but that might affect the finish. If you can't do a tang plate, I would probably buy another like this anyways. I really like the colour of wood, but my decision to purchase is not based on the specific wood.

I have some money coming in a couple of weeks, so id someone else jumps before that, sell it to them!

EDIT: Whoa! and the second one sold while I was reading and typing!

I've actually got 3 blades cut out that I'm planning on heat treating this week that will accept a tang plate. I've got some brass stock and am looking for some copper stock, because I really like the look of the copper on them. Once I get the blade treated I'll drop you a line.
