Chivalric Book Sale

Post by Vitus von Atzinger »

I am selling these books to pay for some white leather. I have enjoyed having them in my posession, but it's time they moved on to new homes.

ALL PRICES ALREADY INCLUDE POSTAGE

First we have a small hardback edition Tales of Froissart from 1899. It is illustrated, the cover is gorgeous and it has all the great knightly stuff in it that we all love to read. It has an inscription (it was an X-mas present in 1913.) 368 pages.

Book itself is wrapped in gold and green cloth with a gold inscription on the front and spine. Spine of dust jacket has faded a bit. Illustrations are in color.

Next we have a neat book that I really love. It's the first American edition of The Mystery of King Arthur by Elizabeth Jenkins. Book is in near-mint condition. It's a great guide to everything Athurian. Illustrations are freaking fantastic, with lots of great pictures from the 14th and 15th century. Dust jacket is present and is wrapped in a clear plastic jacket. A REALLY COOL BOOK.

Next up we have a two-volume 1901 edition of Chronicles of France, Spain and England by Jean Froissart. Books are wrapped in green cloth with embossed gold lettering. Pages are clean and the edges are rough-cut. This is the most extensive compilation of Froissart's true-life adventure stories of 14th century chivalric war that I have ever found in an affordable set. The second volume also includes Voltaire's history of Charles XII. This is not the lame-ass Penguin Froissart that everyone knows- this is the real deal with emphasis on the stories of knightly deeds and adventures from the first half of the 100 Years War. Perfrect for the 14th century mafia type that likes to read for inspiration.

I will sell the remaining volumes together for $80.

That's the first Froissart, the first edition of Sir Nigel and the Arthurian book.
