Iain's sale (Part Deux. - Gauntlets, etc.)

by Iain (Bunny) Ruadh
Here is another batch of of armour and bits that have been either been taking up space in my workroom gathering dust or aren’t in line with my focus of the mid/late 14th C. portrayal so either way they gotta go. Funds from these sales will most likely go towards getting custom fitted parts to improve on my primary harness.

Prices include shipping within the lower 48 states via UPS Ground. Outside of that can be done with buyer paying shipping difference. I will attempt to put up pics and background on various items. Please send any questions via the archive email address I have on my profile and NOT via archive PM (fills up way to fast). I accept PayPal, but will also take money orders and cashier cheques (shipping upon receipt along with address). I will take personal cheques but will hold shipment until it clears thru my bank. I will send tracking #’s on all shipments along with email letting the new owners know items are enroute. Also items can be brought to St. Valentines Day Massacre/TOC in the Midrealm. I'll knock down the price by what it would have cost me to ship if this option is used.

And now for some more ...

-Sasuke (Oak’s Armoury) Stainless steel Gothic style gauntlets ***SOLD***(size med/large, I wear a #5 glove). These are designed to ground out on the weapon and are an incredible workmanship. They have seen use but have a lot of life still left in them (not to mention Sasuke’s customer service which follows gear made by his hand). These have sliding rivets on the wrist articulation for an incredible range of motion. The details, such as the ‘clubs’ punched on the cuff, the knuckle ‘balls’, wrist bone ‘spike’ and the rolled inside cuff, really make these an outstanding piece of armour. Asking $850 (shipping incl.)

-Lewis Moore Stainless steel hourglass finger gauntlets***SOLD*** (size med/large, I wear a #5 glove). These have seen use and will need to have pinky on the left one re-riveted (it was loop taped to hold it in place this past Pennsic) but are still well built and serviceable. Asking $350 (shipping incl.)

-Lewis Moore Stainless Visby style gauntlets ***SOLD***(size med/large, I wear a #5 glove). These have seen use in the Cot30 and other few other battles but are in good shape. Asking $400 (shipping incl.)
Image

-Anshelm Stainless steel simple shoulder ***SOLD*** (I believe they are now being sold as ‘Crecy’ style). No holes or tabs & never used. Asking $50 (shipping incl.)

-Stainless steel simple elbow cop***SOLD*** (strapped but unknown maker). Very sturdy and ‘y-strapped’ already. Used to cover the inside of my shield arm (one with padding, one without). Asking $45 (shipping incl.)

-Anshelm brigandine gorget of mild steel***SOLD***. This has seen a lot of use (I’ve felt the safest in it) but with some simple cleaning and stitching it’s still got a lot more use left in it. I have 18-19â€

I'm interested in the Sasuke gauntlets, but am confused about the sizing. You say med/large, but then also say #5. I measured my hands, and got 9.5" around the palm, which is a US Men's glove size 9.5 or 10, or Large. How does this compare to your hands?

Thanks!

Hans

@ Cian - both of Clay's are indeed stainless steel. Shoot me an email or PM with your addy and how you'd like to pay and I can get 'em boxed up for you.

@ Graf Hans - The #5 size I used were based on my military glove sizing. Around the palm (level at the thumb webbing - where most gauntlets are palm strapped), I come in at a 9.5" circ as well. My length of hand from tip of middle finger to the crease of my wrist is 8". The straight line distance on the gauntlets themselves across the palm (at the strap) is 4.5".

@ k_towery - Alas you are 2nd on them. There was a direct contact @ 5:51am EST with payment. Just got on this a.m. so updating posting now. Sorry.

@ Ilsebet & Hrolfr - Yup, they disappeared faster than I expected too. If you don't mind a bit of elbow grease, I might suggest picking up a set of the fingers from Master Cet @ Vulcan Forge and mounting them with a set of Torvaldr's leather hourglass demi gauntlets. Light and very sturdy. You might be able to get another armourer to assemble with a hand tracing for reference and a nominal fee.

*edit to correct typo

I have a set of Cet's ( ) fingers and a pair of demis made by Thorgrimr that I am working on. Just have always wanted a pair of Lewis' gauntlets.

Another archiver contacted me direct via email about them and is pending payment confirmation, but I wasn't able to get on this morning to update the thread (was @ IRS tax training today). But if that falls through, you are next in the queue.

Edit to add: Payment confirmation came through. But I know I still have a bag of loaner armour out in the shed I haven't looked pulled out and some more items under workbenches and such. I'll put those and what's left from parts I & II (and most likely discount them to clear the space out) into the third round in a few weeks or so (at least a week before Val day for certain).
