Might be interested in thinning the herd a little.
Any serious interest? If so, I'll get some pix and we can talk about prices.
M44 Mosin. '45 Izhevsk. Non-import-marked, non-refurb. One of my friends (a paleoethnobotanist whose specialty is NOT SE Asia) tentatively identified a seed we found stuck in the cosmolene as belonging to a SE Asian jungle plant, so quite likely a Vietnam bringback. Non-matching, very worn finish, decent bore. Have not fired. 7.62x54r.
SOLD PENDING PAYMENT. M24/47 Mauser. Really nice condition, with crest, great barrel, tight crown, very clean stock. Still in some cosmolene, I have not fired but expect it to be a very good shooter. All matching numbers. 7.92x57 IS.
Ishapore 2a1 Enfield. Again, really nice condition. Beautiful stock, awesome barrel, great shooter. Metal finish is a nice, even park NOT the nasty black paint on some of these. Bolt and receiver numbers match. Missing Bayonet lugs due to NJ importation and assault weapons laws. 7.62 NATO/.308 Win. Passes headspace tests for both military and commercial ammo. Came to me from Todd at Family Firearms and Finishes, anyone who knows that name knows that means it's one of the nicest of these you've ever seen or Todd would never have sold it.

What do you want for the Mauser?
I'm assuming my C&R FFL could cover it for shipping to me...

Looking to get $200 out of the Mauser. That seems to be about what they're ACTUALLY going for in good shape. Plus probably about $20 to $25 shipping with insurance. Yes, C&R is fine.

Dibs on the Mauser. Can you post some pictures of the Mauser?
Pay day for me is the 15th. Can you wait until then?

Also have a '41 VKT D M39 barreled action (includes mag and action screws, no bolt, wood, or barrel bands), built on a 1906 receiver (makers mark illegible to me) with Czar's mark intact. SA marked. VERY nice barrel. These things are some of the most accurate bolt action military rifles ever made (SAKO learned their skills making Mosin barrels for the Finnish military), would make a great sporter or target rifle in one of those Monty Carlo stocks, without ruining an as issued condition rifle. Just to be clear, the standard of acceptance for these was something like 1.3 MOA, and most are capable of shooting sub MOA if you're good enough. I can shoot a 2 inch group over iron sights from my as issued '42 Sk.Y using surplus ammo, and the one time we rigged a no-drill scope to it shot a .75 inch group using surplus. Most M39s are capable of about this level of accuracy. It's incredible, and the ammo is <$.25 a shot.
I have not fired this rifle.

Forgot, btw, the Ishapore has a couple of arsenal repairs to the buttstock that weren't done as gracefully as some others I've seen, and a small chip out behind the wrist (where a LOT of Enfields have that chip). IMO, it still has a very fine looking stock, just with some character.

Yep, I'll take the Mauser for sure.
Do you have a fax so I can send my FFL over to you?
Posted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:54 pm
by talaananthes
Prefer email. Could you scan it? That is a legal tranmission method.
If not, I'll pm you my work fax #.

Yep, I can do that for you no problem.
Just PM me your email address.
I can send you PayPal right now if you send me your PayPal address...
I'll bring a copy of the FFL with me to work tomorrow, sign it and get it over to you.

What are you looking to get for the M39 barrelled action? Would it require an FFL/C&R?

Very interested in the Nagant 44 pending spousal approval. What kind of price are you looking for on it?

All four are legally considered to be C&R firearms and MUST be shipped to the address on an FFL (001 or 003). If the M39 were 1898 or prior, which a fair number are, it would be considered a non firearm but since you're getting a receiver for a cartridge firearm dated after January 1, 1899 it has to go to an FFL.
The M39 I'm looking to get $150 including shipping.
The M44 I'm not really sure, tbh.

Mauser is sold pending payment.
Enfield, I'm trying to work out a partial trade with Cadfael_Mynnydd for his krag, but not sure if that's going to work out. I'm looking to get $250 plus shipping for it, that includes the sling pictured (correct for type) as well as a 75 round bandolier, and between 12 and 15 stripper clips depending on if I've lost any. I also have about 40 rounds of British surplus ammo, but you'd have to pay seperate shipping if you want those.
M44, Bainard Grey has first right of refusal.
M39, Tomburr has first right of refusal.
But . . . if I get a solid offer for either of those, I'm going to go ahead and take it.

BTW . . . I can stick a bolt in with the M39 for $30. No guarantees on headspacing, but bolt heads are relatively cheap and tbh Mosins rarely headspace wrong especially if you're only judging by the field gauge. (IE, safe enough to fire new production or surplus ammo but should not be used with reloads except with EXTREME caution.)

Turns out, the M44's probably not a war bringback. Seed misidentification.
So, $175 for it.

As much as I would love to have another M44 to add to the my little Nagant family I am going to have to pass. Went to the dentist today and need to have a tooth crowned so all my play money just disappeared. Sorry

Shot the M44 for the first time today. Five rounds new Winchester (Sellier and Bellot?) 180 grain fmj's.
First three rounds at 50 yards:

Fourth and fifth shots at 100 yards, fourth was just a bad shot, fifth was (with a little Kentucky windage):

Shoots pretty good if you ask me.

Found some more goodies for the Enfield . . . 200 rounds of once fired reloadable military brass (Lake City NATO headstamped M118 brass). Will add them for an extra $20 (generally retails for about $30/100). Call it $300 shipped for all of it including seperate shipping for the ammo and brass.
2A1 Enfield
Correct sling
c. 40 rounds NATO headstamp ammo
75 round military bandoleer
c. 15 stripper clips
200 rounds of some of the very best 7.62x51 brass there is, once fired

All but M39 sold. $150 shipped for an M39 barreled action in excellent condition is a great price for a great gun.

M39 reduced to $125 shipped CONUS.
Also, got rid of my Tokarev so I have a spare 9mm barrel and bushing combo for a TT33 or close derivative. These are the ONLY parts you need to convert a Tokarev pistol (including Yugo Md.57's) to fire 9mm. I believe it's Chinese made, exterior is blued, barrel is hard chromed, VERY fine worksmanship in Excellent+++/Like New condition. Crown and rifling are perfect, barrel is mirror shiny and crisp as they come.
My Md57 functioned perfectly with this. Fed hollowpoints flawlessly, and absolutely loved +P defensive loads. The only problem I encountered was that low power target FMJs weren't always strong enough to cycle the action (7.62x25 is more like .45 ACP or 9mm +P in terms of power generation), so I'd have to clear a stovepipe every few mags. A $10 lower pressure spring should solve that problem easily, but using the stiffer spring intended for the x25 gives you the perfect tension for absolute defensive reliability.
$100 +$5 CONUS shipping for both barrel and bushing. Spare Tok barrels are rare as anything these days with all the cheap beaters around, that's the same price you'd pay for a much lower quality Pakistani 9mm barrel these days. No FFL required, may ship to any residential address in the US.
