Reminds me of the guy that had to roll the big rock up the hill.
Also the one about the puppy dog with a bull dog mouth.

But enough of parables.
I do not know how one recovers from such an overload.
Other armourers come to mind.
Most dissolved.

Best of luck on your quest.

For whatever its worth, unlike most, I haven't just vanished. I'm still trying to make it right even if I'm not doing a very good job of it.

At this point, I can't even remember what I ordered. Spaulders, half gaunts and a shield basket...I think.

Raulin, that's why, as I get to each person, I ask them if the still want the armour or if they just want the money back instead.

You are correct. For awhile now, I've had no more 14 gauge steel for helms, and, of course, no money to refund or buy supplies with. Unless some unexpected boon rolls in, I'm stuck waiting on taxes to buy some steel and rivets to resume work and to do as much refunding as I can. I'd like to say stuff is rolling right off the line, but for now, it's not... and I can't do a thing about it.

Hey Otto, for the spaulders I ordered, was there a tracking number by chance?

Not around here they don't. That, and it'd cost me more in gas than I'd make just driving back and forth.

Our Wall Mart did away with the greeters. I liked the little old lady.
I thought I could do that too, now that I am retired.
But they closed the job.

It would of paid better than armouring for me... with less wear and tear.
That is why I no longer make helms.

I will do my best to still make this happen, but I just lost my job and I don't know exactly how I'm going to handle that yet.

I'm very sorry.

One of our local fighter's just got one of your helms Otto. You may be making the chins a bit too deep. Nothing a 1/2 hour with my jigsaw won't fix.

Quick question. If I remove the bottom bar when I trim the cheek plates, do you think I should weld the next one up to that middle bar they all run through? Or you think it will be ok with that middle bar floating free at the bottom? Looks like it might work ok without the weld, but I thought I'd ask the builder.

The central bar is a spacer for the round bars and also ties them all together which gives them added strength. If you were going to shorten the "chin" of the facial area, I'd:

remove the lowest round-bar
detach and move up the bottom flat bar.
re-attach the bottom flat bar to the long flat spacer bar through a rivet or weld, whichever you're more comfortable with.

Those flat bars are fairly important to the strength and stability of the bar grill.

Honestly, with being injured and laid up most of March, I've been having to play catch up.
I plan to be doing at least one helmet toward back orders next week though... hopefully 2 by month's end.

Apologies...

I am no longer allowed to sell or advertise my site on the archive.

I'm left with trying to scrape by using the evil ebay and my virtually unknown website.

This will make it MUCH harder for me to pay my own bills, let alone try to make up for my long past orders.

I'm going to still try as best I'm able... but this new development obviously cripples my efforts to make good.

I'm sorry.

Love a real-world job... but fact is... I'm almost 50, quite fat, haven't worked a normal job in several years, and don't have much to recommend me past an associates degree.
All the interviews I've had (including the place I worked 20 years at) have fallen flat.
Ooo, and I forgot to add my history of mild/moderate mental illness... that really helps me get jobs too!
Armouring pays OK as long as I keep working.

I may have to face the fact that this may very well be my "final" job... the one I retire from... as no one else seems to want me.

that, and truthfully, I couldn't pay the bills working at walmart or McD's.

So, I don't have a clue if anyone will see this, but it's the only way I am allowed to sell here on the archive.

50% of any sales go toward paying off back orders. This is a requirement and will be monitored.

with as crappy as using ebay is, I'll try my luck at getting 50% and having 50% go toward the back orders here... at least it'd accomplish more good.

In stock...
I have gorgets, small (14-15.75), medium (16-17.75), and large (18-20) for $25 each
16 ga. mild steel
I have rounded elbows and knees $20 for a set of elbows, $30 for a set of knees.

and I'd be more than happy to make someone a helm... celtic, norse, barrel, or crusader but those aren't "in stock"

Once again... 50% of all sales goes directly toward refunding old orders.

Otto, I may need a couple gorgets in a month once the semester starts up and I see what our student population is like.

What do you make beyond helms, gorgets, and simple cops?
