No, mostly I'm a miserable failure. Making armour is my ONLY source of income... and it hasn't held up too well. I'm facing eviction at the moment and truthfully don't know where I'll be living in a month. Normal jobs are avoiding me like the plague... and I really have no outstanding skills to offer, so that's no real surprise.

I would love nothing better than to work on backlog full time... but I can't seem to make enough to get there... so here I am... failing as usual.

Armor sales are in the toilet Otto, Try your metal skills at making a custom car or motorcycle part if you can.

Take care

After a mild amount of snark on the SCA Armor on FB, I received my order from Otto yesterday. Scratch me off the list.

My farming skills are minimal at best... I did gardening as a kid when mom and dad decided growing a big garden would help with the food bill.

I'm past the eviction thing for the moment and have gotten 4 old orders out and starting another old order this weekend... so things are ok at the moment.

Actually, I'm seriously considering adding some woodworking to my activities as I could do that at home while the armour shop is closed and make a bit extra that way.

Actually, I'm planning on adding woodworking items to my list of things I do. I'm starting with the savanarola type chair and planned on doing chests as well as any other sca camping type gear I can think of. I can do this stuff at home when the shop is inaccessible and maybe it'll help me make a living a bit better.

I received my order from Otto yesterday: Crusader helmet, gorget, and shield basket. All work was excellent and I am satisfied.

Otto,

I see you are jumping all around on your list. How is someone supposed to know where they stand on your list if you are not turning out orders in the order they appear on your list?

The order I am wanting information on is listed under Brigit Boyer, purchased August 31, 2009.

Thank you,

Otto's moving his house again but keeping the shop where it is.
I know he posted a few updates on the list near the end of August. And has been busy working in current stuff trying to get money together for the move.

He posted something about the new place should let him speed up the list once things settle.

I heard from him the other day, he's still working in the shop.
The production schedule is being effected by weather and a missing order.
The order went missing sometime after being posted.

If your using yahoo they are having issues with mail delivery.
I know this really dosen't help those people waiting on armour.

When did he run this sale? August of 2007? Am I right on that?

This may be the longest I've ever had to wait on a piece of armour. I'm kinda hoping he stretches this out a few more years... It's starting to make an awesome story to tell folks around the campfire... ("Oh, you think four months over due is a longtime? Let me tell you the story of Otto...")

Hi Bender,

Yes I agree, I have had to fill orders and know what you are talking about.
I would rather finish a project and have it ready to ship before billing the client.
Yes, I have several unpaid items on the shelf, however my client is never out his investment.

What if I get hit by a truck or something?
Or get sick and tossed out in the street.
I can not afford to refund pre paid payments.
I would rather not accept payment until finished with approval pics,
than to risk disappointing my clients.

Yes, I have a gorget and spaulders on back order with the OP.
It has been so long I wrote it off as a loss. :-(

Hal
