Looking for a Longsword for cutting practice.

Post by William Frisbee »

I'm in dire need of a GOOD cutting sword.

Something in the Oakeshott Type XVIa or XVI classes, in a pinch a Oakeshott Type XVII would do too...
I don't want a Hanwei blade, I have enough of those thanks...

Anyone have one they can part with?

Kult of Athena has a Crecy war sword (44" long) for $775, 44.25". I would consider Albion a good sword.
Personally, I don't even want to cut paper with it. (My gf is a sexy goddess, but I don't even let her touch the Albions).
If you keep an eye out on myarmoury, Trims and Tinkers come up for sale every so often.

I know someone selling an Albion Sempach and Constable. Here's what he emailed me about them:

I'd go $900 for the Sempach, $700 for the Constable, or $1500 for both. The Sempach is pristine - don't recall grip color offhand. The Constable is very clean, but I'd need to give it a solid look-over before I say it's spotless. The blade is clean, but I think I recall a small ding in the guard.

PM me if you want his contact info.

A cheaper alternative is the Albion Squire Line late 13th C sword:
