I need a big axe

Post by Morpheus »

Ok,
I'm helping somebody look for a double-bladed axe but I'm having trouble. He wants
a really wide blade, almost a half moon, and about a foot wide, and 8-10 inches high(blade)
its going to be mounted on about a four foot pole.
Thanks,
Morph

I don't have his email address handy, but Abaddon here on the archive can make a nice axe head. Do a search for him and you should be able to find him. I think his email addy is rmayo@idt.com but don't quote me. Here's the axe he gave me:

The head is about 15" wide and about 10" tall I think. It proudly sits in my living room by the computer Image

I have got another one of these.
The picture doesn't do it justice.
Strange angle or something (thanks though Pod)
The axe is about 48" high
The blades edges are about 14" long (w/curvature)
The head (from tip to tip) is about 19" wide
Weight: 10-12 lbs.
Steel= Tempered high carbon, cold-rolled.
The handle is resin impregnated ash.
Made for a post-hole digger. Supposedly unbreakable.

Glad to see you came out of hiding! Image No, the picture doesn't do it justice. It has a lot more luster and shine to the blade and it is really solid. The handles take an extremely large amount of force to break (although I have broken one) but I'm sure you could hack into a foreign car with no problems!

Thanks again Rob!

I'm going to try to see if I can do dynamic hosting of images (you can upload it to my server), and if the traffic isn't too bad, I'll keep it up...

Actually, Sasha, I was planning to write a program that would recieve your upload, then monitor the traffic that it got, and from where, so if somebody tried to use the picture for eBay, or something, it would just return an empty document (zero contentlength), and the picture would be removed after a certain number of hits from eBay. (actually, not just ebay, but anything other than the Archive)
But, since I like you, I'm going to put the pic up on my server anyway. Nice lookin axe, BTW.

Thanks Tom.

Given that my tech level for computers still involves water-wheels and mice running around inside tubes.....the programming you describe sounds impressive. Good luck.

Bwahahaha... my boss thinks so too... As long as he doesn't learn how to program, he'll also think that I have extreme foo powers...
Most of the work I do DOES require skill... just not this one.

Just thopught I would mention that the one of these that I had lying around in a state of "3 hours form completion" has now found a nice home.

If your friend wants to order one form me it will now have about a 5 week turnaround on it.

On the brightside the blades are made form hi-carbon steel salvaged from 100year old Tasmanian saw-mill blades. It CAN be used for throwing....but has about a 14foot turning increment.

Basdically, I just like building these things because they are cute and dainty.

Ok, now he's making it near impossible for me. Is there any way I could get anything for around a hundred from anybody? I could even just get the head and do the rest myself.

I could do a small double-bearded axe-head for $100US + Shipping.

It would be plain spring-steel instead of the hi-carbon stuff.

5 week turnaround.

Shipping will work out at around $20-35US

That is the rock bottom best I can offer you.
