My parents have gotten into some serious financial trouble and I need to raise about $1000 to help them out. I have already done as much as I can personally, but nearly all my money is tied up in the purchase of my new house. So I am auctioning off an SCA fighter starter kit. The kit includes
Bazubands
Gauntlets
Lamellar shirt kit
Shovel Greaves
Dog collar gorget

This is enough to meet SCA minimums in nearly every SCA kingdom. It has a normal retail value of $895 with my new pricing. This action will run until July 29th, the items will be completed and delivered by September 1st. Pictures below are of stock items. Will anyone open the bidding at $450?

Damn, a bit too rich for my blood at the moment. Plus I just bought the lamellar. Maybe if you parted it out in a few auctions, you might get more than you expected.

I think you may be right. So rather than have several auctions listed separately I will list them all here

The opening bids are for approx 50% of the retail values

25 on the gorget, it'll have to be paid next thursday unless someone else beats me out. Otherwise I'll gladly donate $20 next week just to help the cause.

Thank you everyone that has bid so far. To be clear, all the items will be made to order to your measurements and colors. So don't worry about if it will fit or not.

To let folks know this is not just about some unexpected bill or such. My parents, like a lot of people, are behind on their mortgage. If I were not in the middle of buying my own place I would give them the money they need without hesitation, but I can't spare any more of my own money until after closing on my new house. They are not in immediate danger of being foreclosed on, but I don't want to let it get that far. My father is nearly 70 and has had to go find a job to try and work his way out of this, and I am afraid we may instead work himself into a health crisis. My mother is not in the best of health either and she constantly worries about my Dad which exacerbates her condition.

So this is the best I can do at this time to help. Thank you all for your bids.

I just checked my Pennsic budget and I can bid as much as $80 on the gauntlets but only if I could pick them up at Pennsic.

torvaldr are these gauntlets the ones shown or just like them? with the extra piece sewn of for strengthening? I had a pair of your gaunts like... 3 years ago and someone stole them and they were not that thick.
