Swords for sale!

Post by Ulricus von Geusa »

Looking to get myself some pretty armour, so here are a couple of swords that have been sitting around my house not getting any use.

First, The Hanwei Practical hand and a half. Bought before I decided that I wanted to do SCA fighting. Specs can be seen here:

SOLD Pending trade.
Second, The Hanwei Godfred Damascus Viking Sword. Bought on a spur of the moment when I had way too much money in my pocket.

I'm looking for $300 for this one.

Both swords have been regularly maintained with Renaissance Wax and neither have ever seen any use besides me swinging them around trying in vain to look cool.
If you have any questions, or would like more pictures, feel free to contact me. Also, as I said, I'm looking to buy myself some armour, so trades will be considered, depending on what you have!

Thanks,
Ulric

Its this sword, right?

The new price from KoA is the same as what you're asking for used.
Not picking fights or anything, but most of the archive folks do their shopping for steel at Kult of Athena, or at least know the place fairly well, so i thought I'd mention it.

If you are willing to consider trades, I can dig through what I have lying around.
What do you need, or are looking for in style and period?

(I'll call tentative dibs on the Hanwei practical bastard, in the event we decide to strike a deal.)

Damn, I didn't know about that site, and they have the Godfred on there much cheaper as well. Oh well, prices shall be adjusted.

As for period and Style, I'm looking for late 14th Century German or Italian.

EDIT: Since I was poking my way around there anyway, What's the armour like on that site? Is it safe to fight in?

Heh.
Your choice of style in armor is the same as mine....
I do have some surplus stuff, but its mostly earlier period.

Theres a few things I can make as well- we might talk by private message.

As for the Kult of Athena armor-
Assume anything not made by get dressed for battle is NOT fighting worthy.

I'm told some of the GDFB items can be made list safe for SCA combat; but most of it is seems to be made more for the European live steel societies, which have different rules for gear safety.

Understand, I have not handled a single item of theirs for myself.
I'm just repeating what I remember others have said- with the 14 gauge helms being thick enough, but possibly not a good idea for SCA heavy.
(Opinions seem to vary on them..and I do not know if they come in more than one size.)

Thanks for the tips, I really liked the look of some of the churburg stuff. Feel free to message me if you're still interested in the Sword though.
