Hardened steel bascinet for sale

I'm looking to sell my bascinet, which has only been used at one practice. It is made from 14 gauge 1050 steel, hardened & tempered. Made by Jeff Wasson. It is currently padded with 1/4" closed cell foam and 1/2" open cell foam hidden inside a linen liner, but it's a tad too small for my head (23" around). The helm comes with both a klapvisor and a grill, which swap out quickly - the only tool needed is an awl or push pin. Note the "barrel" style vervelles and the spacers located above the vervelles. Also comes with a welded stainless aventail tailored to fit the helm.

I'm looking to get $1250 for this helm. The proceeds from this helm will be re-invested in this hobby in the form of another helm!

Additional photos or information is available upon request (sorry about the poor quality of the photos below).

Did you mention it to whoever made it?

Yes. The armourer already offered to re-do the helm. Since there is normally a lengthy wait to get a new helm like this, I decided to see first if there is anyone who this helm would work for.

That turned out right purty. Tis a shame that it doesn't fit you right.

I wonder if I can get him to make me a grill like that? That would be awesome!

What function do the spacers serve?

The spacers are a feature found on some extant bascinets. The impression that I am under is that they were there to ensure that your great helm slid on without interfering with the vervelles.

They serve the purpose of guiding a sword or pike or bec or axe swing to slide off the helm without cutting the aventail leather.

That is a sexy helm... and made by Wasson is a good thing.

Final bump.

If you're interested in the helm but don't have all the funds yet, shoot me a PM.
