Desperately seeking a helm for a large, large head...

Hi,

I'm looking, hoping and praying that somone can help me find a helm for a 26" head to purchase. I'm getting back into SCA and wish to fight, but cannot for the life of me find a helm that will fit my large grape. The one we were attempting to make failed miserably, and I can't seem to find any vendors willing to take new orders.

If you have one used I can purchase, tell me, I'll give a fair price. If you know of someone who can take a custom request these days for a big one, tell me that as well, as I would like to get a nice helm to last my fighting career.

I'd prefer used until I can get a nice one made someday, but if I gotta go new, I gotta. I do prefer bascinets to greathelms, but I'm certainly not picky and will use either right now if the price is right.

If you don't have any, hit up your large friends for a spare, hehe

. I wanna fight and it's the last piece of armor I need.

In fact, I can throw in a Tyan Tiger 133 dual-processor motherboard (only used once) and a couple of pII-333 processors as part of a trade/sale if it's any enticement to anyone.

Well, just off the bat I have a very ugly spanginhelmish sorta thingamagig wade by god knows who that should be big enough for you. Or I could make you somthing, but it would be a while before I could start it. Hmm, I also have a greathelm that MIGHT fit you. None of the basinets I have made would even come close, though some of the ron simmons basinet halfs welded togeather without any trimming might be big enough. Not sure though.

... the ugly spagen sounds like it'd be a good incentive to upgrade...hehe... what would you be thinking as far as prices?

Well, I would love to get my hands on the mother board and processors, thay are in fact worth quite a bit more then this helm though. And cash is somthing I dont have any extra off right now. I couldnt see selling this helm for more then about $25 if you want it as is. Be a bit more if you want me to add internal welds (the riviting is a bit sloppy) and cut off the UGLY closed face and weld on a bar grill.

Well accdntprone, perhaps we have room to deal...lol... I'm interested in the spagen, perhaps with the open face and welds done to the inside, as cash is not something I have alot of as well... here's the thing, tho... if you can "make" a good helm or have contacts who can, we might be able to arrange a trade for the Mobo and processors for a helm and perhaps even a little extra for the spagen... it would be a starter helm anyways... what do you think?

The deal in and of itself sounds fine, and I can make a helm that will fit you. The real question is how long it will take me. I already owe stuff to other people, and in fact am behind on it. I would be quite happy to make a helm for you after I catch up. What kind?

I tried to email you but the emails keep bouncing. I went and measured the inside circumference is
just over 29" at the rivet line or at the top of the
opening and then tapers to the top. So I think it
should fit fine. I hope this helps, let me know if
you are still interested.
